50,000 Soldiers Forced Into Extended Duty

50,000 Soldiers Forced Into Extended Duty

The U.S. Army has forced about 50,000 soldiers
to continue serving after their voluntary stints ended under a policy called
“stop-loss,” but while some dispute its fairness, court challenges
have fallen flat. Reuters

If this isn't a crisis, please give me the correct definition.
If this doesn't prove our Army is broken, tell me what other evidence you need.
If this doesn't show that we have no plan in Iraq, other than to continue to
deplete our own force structure and weaken our own global defenses and ability
to meet other crises in the world, nothing will. Just imagine, every time a
soldier thinks his or her voluntary duty is up, Rummy extends the tour. It's
called a back-door draft, a stop-loss policy that is killing the morale of our
troops and making our Army bleed from within. George W. Bush may have a soldier
in the gallery on George W. Bush Day, SOTU Tuesday, but you can bet the president won't be talking
about his back-door draft.
