Abramoff, Kidan and the Mob Guy
The revelation of Kidan's face-to-face
with Moscatiello came in more than 400 pages of police records reviewed this
week by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Defense attorneys in the high-profile
murder case say the just-released documents raise more questions, injecting
new players into the proceedings, including one who has been implicated by two
jailhouse informants as participating in the murder.

| Since you can't see the details of this photo, here they are: The dunce hat says “Free Press.” The pipe “Boss Tweed” is holding reads “Tammany.” (Think “Bush Tweed” and you've got the 21st century equivalent.) |
Joining this story already in progress…
If you don't know who Adam Kidan is you're not alone. This post
will give you the picture. He was Jack
Abramoff's business partner in the SunCruz
deal that let Gus Boulis evade some pretty sticky U.S. penalties for owning
ships when he wasn't a U.S. citizen. Abramoff and Kidan “bought” SunCruz
from Boulis when his lawyer approached Abramoff looking for a buyer. The reason “bought” is in quotes is the reason Abramoff and Kidan are now signing like the birds Cheney missed when he accidentally shot Whittingon. (Insert Jon Stewart heh-heh-heh-heh chuckle here.)
The confrontation escalated when Boulis wouldn't back off from
giving advice to the new partners of SunCruz. That's when the Kidan – Boulis
relationship started going sour.
Prosecutors have suggested the three defendants
killed Boulis to ensure he didn't take back control of SunCruz from Kidan. While
Kidan ran SunCruz, he had paid $145,000 in consulting fees to companies tied
to Moscatiello, who had admitted ties to the Gambino crime family and late mob
boss John Gotti, according to court records. A company controlled by Ferrari
received an additional $95,000 for security from Kidan's SunCruz, court records
show.
Kidan and Abramoff both pleaded guilty to bank fraud charges in
connection with SunCruz, which is why “bought” is in quotes, but neither have been connected in any way to the Boulis
hit.
Evidently, the Gus Boulis hit was a coincidence. Yeah, mmmhmmm.
A new name to me surfaced today, Paul Brandreth. He evidently
was driving the car that boxed in Boulis the night he was hit, according to
Brandeth's jailhouse inmates.
Nice deal Abramoff had going with SunCruz. Even nicer that the
Republican Party's top lobbyist, a guy who joked around with the president on
multiple occasions, happened to take over a business that ended with the seller
of that business getting whacked by the mob.
The Republican Party came to power on the back of Jack Abramoff,
who helped Tom Delay, Bob Ney (what a doozy this
story is), Ralph Reed, Karl Rove and the Bush-Cheney re-elect operation
amass the cash that got the Republicans control of Congress.
The president, his party's head lobbyist and the mob is quite a political combo.
This from a group that was supposed to bring honor and integrity back to the
White House. Instead their shenanigans make our president and his pals look
like the 21st century version of Bush Tweed, complete with their own corrupt party of shame.
