FAKE NEWS: Pajamas Media on the Job

FAKE NEWS: Pajamas Media on the Job

One of the most significant yet ignored
aspects of the growing NSA scandal is the way in which the Bush administration
deliberately and repeatedly deceived Congress, from 2001 until the administration's
eavesdropping program was disclosed in December. Over the course of those four
years, the Bush administration led the Congress, on numerous occasions, to falsely
believe that it was eavesdropping only with the judicial oversight and approval
required by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA). Bush's
I-Spy Lie

If you didn't see it you missed a classic.

The question was muffled, not fully audible on C-SPAN, but Senator
Durbin was asked something like why the Senate didn't just vote on whether the
Congress gave the president the authority to use domestic NSA wiretapping. Durbin
couldn't hear the question either, which was repeated, but still not coming
through. Then Durbin asked what media outfit the “reporter” represented.
Pajamas Media, was the response.HUH?, was Durbin's response.
Then the senator said he'd never heard of them.

It's good to know the wingnuts are on the job for Bush, which
brings up the issue of getting the truth out.

We already know the Bush administration is into putting forth
propaganda through fake news. They've done it time and time and time again. Through the
Swiftboat Vets, the Republican Party attempted to get Sinclair Broadcasting
to air an hour program slamming John Kerry over his medals and war biography. The program was aired right before the election. There are many other examples, not the least of which was Bush's canned press conference with American soldiers in Iraq. This is nothing short of propaganda.

We have all worked hard to push back on each issue. So it's no wonder
that Gonzales took issue and wouldn't answer Senator Feinstein's question.

“Can the President suspend
in secret or otherwise the application of section 503 of the national security
act which states that no covert action may be conducted with is intended to
influence United State political processes, public opinion, policies or media?
In other words can he engage in otherwise illegal propaganda?”

Senator Diane Feinstein, Judiciary Committee Hearings, C-SPAN

Attorney General refused to answer the question. It's hard to figure why he didn't, because Senator Specter refused to swear him in.
