Republicans Screw Vets Again
To support the health needs of our veterans
and military personnel and reduce the deficit by making tax rates fairer for

The bill above was put forth by Senator Dodd and eight other Democrats,
including John Kerry and Barbara Boxer. It was really simple and intended to
help the VA. the American Legion offered a statement into the record supporting
the Democrats. Bob
Geiger has the whole sorry tale, but here's the Legion intro: “Your
amendment acknowledges the need for adequate funding to ensure our nation's
veterans receive the healthcare and other benefits to which they are entitled,”
said Steven Robertson, of The American Legion. Again, and I say it here all
the time, why do Republicans get credit for “supporting the troops”
when nothing could be further from the truth? Allowing this bill to go down
is a disgrace. It went down because Republicans didn't support our veterans,
period.
