Selling our National Security
The Dubai firm that won Bush administration backing
to run six U.S. ports has at least two ties to the White House. One is Treasury Secretary John Snow, whose agency
heads the federal panel that signed off on the $6.8 billion sale of an English
company to government-owned Dubai Ports World – giving it control of Manhattan's
cruise ship terminal and Newark's container port.Snow was chairman of the CSX rail firm that sold its
own international port operations to DP World for $1.15 billion in 2004, the
year after Snow left for President Bush's cabinet.

aides' biz ties to Arab firm

Last night on “Scarborough Country,” former CIA head
James Woolsey said that the Dubai firm about to take control of 6 of our ports
was actually bought by the London firm who had been doing the security. Obviously,
from what's been reported in the New York Daily News, that's right on the money,
pun intended.
One of my astute readers nailed this yesterday.
O.K., call me a cynic…..any possibility that DPWorld
has some connection to Halliburton…or one of its many, many mysterious divisions?!!!
This is one of the more outrageous schemes this administration has come up
with…..there HAS to be something in it ($$$$$$$$) for Bush, Cheney, or the
legion of Bushco cronies! – ScorpioWoman
The other Bush aide who benefited is David Sanborn, who now heads the U.S.
Maritime Administration. Sanborn ran DP World's European and Latin American
operations.
Cronyism, cash and incompetence we've become used to from George W. Bush and
his administration. We know he and Deadeye also went into Iraq for some highfalutin
idea of spreading democracy, while lying to us that it was about something else.
As if Saddam Hussein was ever an imminent threat. Now we find out the Bush and
his boys have sold our national security to the highest bidder, after signing
off on the deal that made it possible. As ScorpioWoman called it, it's always
about $$$$$$ with these guys.
UPDATE: This is interesting.
