Let the Swiftboating of Senator Feingold Begin

Let the Swiftboating of Senator Feingold Begin

Via MyDD,
Senator Wayne I have no spine Allard, Republican of Colorado, has accused Russ Feingold of un
American activities, saying he is \”siding with terrorists.\”

Of course, this couldn't be about President Bush breaking the
law and illegally wiretapping Americans. It's all about that mean ole Democrat
who wants to hold poor President Bush accountable, finally, let me
add.

Is this the best defense to President Bush breaking the law and
exceeding his authority? To whine about Russ Feingold and to call him un American,
unpatriotic, as well as someone who is \”siding with terrorists\”?

ProgressNowAction
has a petition up to insist Senator Wayne I have no spine Allard apologize.
Stop
what you're doing and go sign it.

UPDATE: MyDD on new Allard development. Sign the petition.

UPDATE II: Rep. Allard is NOT retracting his statement on Feingold…

Senator Allard's Response: “I have tremendous respect for and share Senator Feingold’s determination to protect the first amendment rights of every U.S. citizen. However, in case of the NSA’s surveillance of terrorists, I think Senator Feingold is barking up the wrong tree. We should be looking for new ways to better track and apprehend terrorists, not punishing the President for fulfilling his constitutional responsibilities. We are in war that cannot be won by ignoring the activities of terrorists in our nation. We must be prepared to do what is necessary under the law to protect our country against the possibility of another September 11. To me, that is exactly what the President did when he authorized the NSA surveillance program. Censoring the President for taking this action in my mind just smacks of political opportunism and does nothing to make our nation any safer.”
