Republican Action Comes Way Too Late
Another one bites the dust.

| Once in charge of Operation Predator, pleads no contest to… ewwwww. |
Figueroa, once one of Florida’s highest-ranking
federal law enforcement officers and the former head of a national program
formed to target child sex predators, was arrested Oct. 25 at The Mall at
Millenia in Orlando.(snip)
Rachel Wright, the 16-year-old who reported the incident,
said Figueroa pulled up a leg of his shorts, exposed himself and masturbated
for about 10 minutes.“I glanced once because he seemed very strange,
and I caught a look of his penis,” she said. “I was shocked, so
I sat and thought of what I should do.”
Yet another pedophile in power, this one pleading no contest today for fondling
himself in front of a minor. Figueroa also happened to be the highest officer
involved with Operation Predator, the Homeland Security Program specifically
mandated to go after child predators.
Keith Oblermann had Washington Post reporter Spencer Hsu, who
has the beat of Homeland Security, on his show today. Hsu's performance was
horrifying. One of his comments on Doyle was, “How could you pick something
like this up?” It got worse from there.
First, Mr. Hsu, you vet the man backwards and forwards. He's working
in Homeland Security. You make sure he's clean and isn't a pedophile, for starters.
Then, when you find him surfing porn late at night in the office,
you begin to worry.
CBSNews.com has learned that this is not
the first time Doyle's alleged Internet habits got him in trouble. A source
told CBSNews.com that while working in a previous position, managers discovered
that Doyle had been looking at pornography on a receptionist's computer late
at night. He admitted to the incident, was reprimanded, and was asked to give
a formal apology to staffers, the source said. Homeland

Doyle joined TSA after 9/11, then was hired by Michael Chertoff
for Homeland Security, after many years as a journalist. After 9/11, weren't
we making sure background checks were performed? Interviewing friends and family
and finding out about personal habits?
Tsu continued, asking how could you pick up on this and what would
you do differently?
It wasn't until they found a pedophile inside the press office
of Homeland Security that Republicans started asking about vetting of the department
staff. One has to ask what these idiots in Congress have been doing all this
time. Considering their record on our ports, with the Dubai port deal, I'm almost
afraid to ask the question.
Republicans have been sleeping on the job, while Homeland Security
first blew Katrina, now they had two high level pedophiles in their security
department, one who was responsible for tracking down pedophiles.
Tsu reported today there is a “backlog” of people waiting
for security clearances. What exactly does that mean?
Tsu also said that Homeland Security refused to give the status
of Brian Doyle's security clearance or the status of his background check and
vetting. I wonder why?
Then Tsu said something incredibly stupid, that these were just
allegations against Doyle. Yo, babe, he confessed. Tsu continued that we need
to keep an open mind on the situation and that what you do on the Internet and
actually soliciting a minor is a “hard line to tell from afar.” Where
does the Washington Post get these people?
Someone experienced in sex crimes and sexual predators should
be handling the story, because Tsu is in way over his head.
Open mind? Good grief.
I want to know about Doyle's background check. How thorough was
it? The man didn't start seducing 14 year old girls out of the blue. It doesn't
work that way. And why did they keep him on after he was found surfing porn
late at night?
Now the Republicans Congress will begin looking into it. Maybe
they should have done their jobs BEFORE pedophiles were let loose in Homeland
Security, including Operation Predator, which was designed to protect minors.
The Keystone Republicans strike again.
