WINGNUTS to ABC's RESCUE: Jeff Gannon Meets Atlas Shrugged
… Except that it is. I saw the film at the National Press Club screening
and I've read the 9/11 Commission Report. The documentary is consistent with
the Report. – Jeff
Gannon
What is with the Republican Party these days? Between Jeff Gannon, a Republican White House press plant who comes complete with nude photos, and Pamela
Geller Oshry, whom we all now know well, the Republicans couldn't reach any lower if they had Karl Rove
show up in drag as a 9/11 widow. I know that sounds course, but it's true. First
Bolton would only deign to be interviewed by Oshry, and now Gannon is vouching
for the ABC fictional farce about 9/11.
Walt Disney had his problems, for sure, but he wouldn't go within a mile of
Jeff Gannon. Can you imagine this political man-slut talking up Pinocchio? Today
it would be standing operating procedure for ABC, evidently. What is Iger thinking?
Well, evidently, there are serious considerations about the ramifications of
what will happen post-9/11 airing of the trash tabloid “Path to 9/11,”
according to Variety, the entertainment industry's bible, so to speak.
“The Path to 9/11″ is looking a lot like “The Reagans, Part
II.”Bill Clinton loyalists are demanding wholesale changes to the upcoming miniseries
— and while ABC is making some snips, the alterations, insiders say, may
not please the Dems. But a bombshell decision may happen anyway: Sources close to the project
say the network, which has been in a media maelstrom over the pic, is mulling
the idea of yanking the mini altogether. …(snip)
In their letter, Lindsey and Band rejected any claim of dramatic license.
“While ABC is promoting 'The Path to 9/11' as a dramatization of historical
fact, in truth it is a fictitious rewriting of history that will be misinterpreted
by millions of Americans,” they wrote.Albright alleged a scene involving her was “false and defamatory,”
according to the Associated Press, which quoted her letter. …Pols pound 'Path'
Under fire, ABC mulls yanking mini
Harvey Keitel isn't
too thrilled with the miniseries in which he appears either.
But you see those two little words in the last line I quoted from Variety. “False
and defamatory” are the magic words, my friends. Translation is simple:
you air this piece of crap and my lawyers will come knocking. That's the pay
off, the problem for ABC and why they just might yank this farce.
thought I'd add… This is how I signed the petition:
Dear Mr. Iger,
This may sound lame, but I've collected Disney memorabilia for years. I've admired Walt Disney's accomplishments, even amidst some of his political controversies. But “Path to 9/11″ is a bridge too far for me.
Please do the right thing and not allow this fictional depiction of our greatest modern tragedy to be aired.
I still believe in the place that Walt built. Don't break my heart.
Taylor Marsh
