Rudy is Running

I'm so shocked. Can't wait to hear when Ken Mehlman joins his campaign.

The former mayor filed papers to create the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory
Committee, Inc., establishing a New York-based panel that would allow him
to raise money to explore a White House run and travel the country.

Wow, I guess that Giuliani also married one of his cousins once — he's got
a few marriages
so it's hard to keep track — doesn't seem to bother anyone anymore.

But it does go perfectly with the news that the RNC is now going to be run
by — wait for it — Mel Martinez. A man who Red State adoringly calls “bonehead.”

Via David
Donnelly at Campaign Money
, whose work is nothing short of amazing, we get
a lot more. Get a load of this
scandal
, or take a clue by the fact Martinez is linked to, yep, — wait
for it — Jack
Abramoff
.

Don't forget Terry Schivao either.

The legal counsel to Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) admitted yesterday that he
was the author of a memo citing the political advantage to Republicans of
intervening in the case of Terri Schiavo, the senator said in an interview
last night.

to GOP Senator Wrote Memo On Schiavo

But Martinez is also connected to — wait for it because this one is really
good — Mark Foley.

Although Fordham has now testified before the House ethics committee, there
are still many unanswered questions about Fordham, who left Foley's office
in 2004 to work on the Senate campaign of Mel Martinez. Fordham then became
chief of staff to Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-N.Y.

Foley's
'red flags' didn't raise enough eyebrows

So, let's count it down. Martinez is called a “bonehead” and has
ties to one scandal, as well as the oldie but goodies, Jack Abramoff and Mark
Foley. Too bad Tom Delay wasn't available. Nice pick. Republicans must
be incredibly… er… unimpressed. I know I am.

But the real challenger has yet to announce. I've said it many times, but beware of Mitt Big Dig Romney. He's the sleeper. Yes, I'm serious.
