Escalation on parade. Here\’s the video.

That\’s the buzz today, folks.

It\’s what I\’ve been warning about for ages and it\’s the only thing that matters today.

Think Vietnam.

Think presidential legacy.

Think saving presidential face.

Iraq is bad and about to get much worse. I\’ll talk about it today on my radio show.

What will the 110th Congress do about it?

As long as Mr. Bush is president it\’s hard to see any good way out.

… AND this just in –(1:11 p.m.)–, according to CNN, Rep. John Murtha met with Bush\’s National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley this afternoon. Sounds like propaganda to me. We shall see. But Murtha knows that an escalation of U.S. troops won\’t get the job done. What needs to occur is a political solution, which U.S. troop escalation can only inhibit.

UPDATE (6:00 p.m.): David Shuster sounded very grim on Johnson\’s condition during \”Countdown,\” though nothing conclusive is known other than it wasn\’t a stroke. Here\’s the latest.

UPDATE (1:47 p.m.): Beyond Iraq, Democratic Tim Johnson is under observation after being rushed to the hospital this afternoon. He may have had a stroke. Obviously, our prayers are with the senator and the Johnsons. Also, let\’s not jump to conclusions. Here is what happens in South Dakota if Johnson cannot continue in the Senate. More… This statute adds some drama to the situation.
