Tis the Season

'Tis the Season

This week starts the party and celebrations around our home. For many people
it's also about getting the shopping done as soon as possible.

This morning I thought I'd do something different and offer some links you may not have seen yet, but which I think are worth your time.

First, if you've never been over at Memeorandum, stop by. Great way to start the day and find out what everyone is talking about.

Moderate Voice has some new guest posters, Shaun Mullen being among them. Mullen covered Vietnam. His journalistic bona fides are serious and deserve attention.

Michael Stickings has a terrific blog, which you really need to check out. Heraclitus writes over there and he wasn't kidding. He really is a bastard!

Murtha was on fire yesterday on CNN. Check it out.

Keith Olbermann is kicking ass. That's good for America.

The most fascinating story today is The Litvinenko Affair. Straight out of Robert Ludlum. The plot thickens. But was it Putin, or just meant to make Putin look bad? Stay tuned. I know I will.

Reader katymine is rightly upset about the new x-ray penchant of our president. It begins in Phoenix. But this comment from her made me laugh out loud: But then I have this image that really grosses me out……. McCain flys through Phoenix Sky Harbor every week……. and then there is Kyl…… eeuuuuuuuwwwwww. Amen, katymine. I'm with you.

Attention shoppers: Price Grabbers has great prices. Williams Sonoma: I strongly
suggest the croissants, as well as the Stilton cheese, add some bread from their
catalogue and it's an amazing gift. Don't forget to check out Buy Blue. I've got great t-shirts and sweatshirts, even baby stuff, all honoring John F. Kennedy. If you're looking for a great wine, liquor, or champagne to send, call Wally's
in Los Angeles
. I shopped there for years and years and also use them for
gifts. Make sure, if you're sending a card, that you are specific about what
you want the wording to be. It's not always easy to get the sentiment you want translated properly over the phone. If you've got a little cash, a great gift is treating someone to a meal at Fleming's.

You can also decide to use
your money and give a tree to our troops
. You can send
a message
to our soldiers, too. Then there is Operation
Ensuring Christmas
, which is dedicated to the children of fallen
heroes.

And if you're feeling generous, I'm running my very first radio fundraiser. It's not easy doing progressive radio on a budget. Help if you can. I appreciate everyone who has donated so far. I've finally got an 800 number for the show, which I'll implement next week! And if you miss a show, they're all on podcasts now.

Oh, and give yourself a gift this season. Keep working out… or start,
especially if you're one of those people who gets hit hard at the holidays. Fighting holiday blues is hard for some people, so keeping the cardio pumping is a great way to fend off the blues.

As for me, I simply love Christmastime. Everything about it is just so reinvigorating. A time to access what has happened throughout the year, as well as visualize what you want for yourself and your family in the New Year. It's a time ripe for change, if you want it. You just have to be willing to take the plunge. It's also a great time to just kick up your heels and have some fun! (Just make sure you don't drink and drive.)
