The American media is calling this a \”raid.\” The BBC
says we \”stormed\” the Iranian consulate. Pick one.

The troops, who storm-raided the consulate, which is up in the Kurdish area
of Iraq, took away computers and files, plus held six people.


U.S. troops raided an Iranian consulate in northern Iraq late Wednesday night
and detained several people, Iran\’s main news agency reported today, prompting
protests from Tehran just hours after President Bush pledged to crack down
on the Islamic Republic\’s role in Iraqi violence.

But the official disputes accounts from Iran that the troops broke open a consulate gate and conducted a raid.

\”No shots were fired. No altercation ensued,\” the U.S. official. \”It was a knock on the door and \’Please come out.\’ \”
