Lots to talk about.
O’REILLY: Within the Democratic Party there are two elements, moderate Dems and radical left Dems. The radical movement is funded by George Soros and Peter Lewis, who pour millions of dollars into candidates and web sites like MoveOn to do their bidding. Soros and Lewis have given MoveOn at least $5 million. My book Culture Warrior pinpoints the far-left agenda and it is frightening, things like open borders, a one-world foreign policy, unfettered abortion, and so on. The Soros-Lewis mob despises Fox News because we have their number and we report on them accurately. They use the MoveOn web site to smear this network and others with whom they disagree. These people use techniques perfected by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi minister of information. They lie, distort, defame, all the time. So it’s not surprising that MoveOn objected to a debate sponsored by Fox News and the Nevada Democratic Party. MoveOn immediately tried to boycott the August event and persuaded John Edwards to drop out. That was simply stupid. Fox News has sponsored a number of debates in the past, all of them fair and balanced, and Edwards has appeared on this network more than 30 times with no complaint. Then last Thursday evening, Fox News chairman Roger Ailes received a Freedom of Speech Leadership Award in Washington. I was in the front row when he said this.
But we\’ll also be talking about Gen. Peter Pace, his comments, and the military.
Hope you can join me today.
UPDATE (11:46 a.m.): Edwards first to stand up again, this time on Gonzales.
\”Today\’s news is only the latest and most disturbing sign of the politicization of justice under President Bush. From the abuse of investigative authority under the Patriot Act to the unconstitutional imprisonment of the Guantanamo Bay detainees and illegal torture of prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Bagram Air Force Base, this president has consistently shown contempt for the rule of law.
\”Attorney General Alberto Gonzales betrayed his public trust by playing politics when his job is to enforce and uphold the law. By violating that trust, he\’s done a great disservice to his office. If White House officials ordered this purge, he should have refused them. If they insisted, he should have resigned in protest. Attorney General Gonzales should certainly resign now.\”
- John Edwards
…Oh, and good news about Senator Tim Johnson.
