Lute will do Hadley’s Job

Well, not technically, but there’s not going to be much for Mr. Hadley to do
anymore it seems.

“He should be fired.” That’s what Senator Jack Reed said
of Stephen Hadley, when during Lieutenant General Doug Lute’s confirmation hearing
he said that the national security adviser wouldn’t have anything to do with
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Lute’s going to coordinate everything between
agencies, as well as take care of policies in both countries. What’s left?

This is just weird.

The national security adviser, Stephen Hadley, won’t even be the war czar’s
boss. So what is he doing, exactly? Seriously, what is Hadley’s job now? I don’t
see a role for him at all. Reed might be right.

Spencer Ackerman has more videos of Lute’s confirmation.
