Richardson, Guns and a Concealed Carry

First a warning, it's a picture of a dead animal. But check out this
photo
of a Richardson kill. Now that's shooting game. The AP owns the photo, so I can't put it
up without paying, but I wouldn't anyway. Though I'm a gun owner, I'm definitely
not a hunter and don't like seeing beautiful animals spread out with people
posing behind them smiling because they're so proud of the kill. I fully understand
hunting for food, but a beautiful animal on some rich guy's ranch, sorry, it
gives me the creeps. Richardson also has a concealed carry. As I've stated before,
my husband does too, at my insistence, let me add. More on Richardson:

Richardson has bagged traditional game such as elk and turkey and stalked
the exotic. He shot an oryx, a long-horned antelope native to Africa, during
a guided outing in 2005 on a New Mexico ranch owned by media mogul Ted Turner.

He owns a 12-gauge Browning over-and-under shotgun, which he's used for hunting
birds, including quail and dove. Richardson also owns a 9 mm semiautomatic
pistol, which is not for hunting, but he has a state permit to carry it concealed.
He's borrowed rifles to hunt big game such as elk, deer and the oryx.

Richardson has purchased hunting licenses each year since he took office
in 2003, according to state Game and Fish Department records.

In campaign appearances, Richardson cites his Western political roots to
explain his positions on issues such as gun control and an endorsement by
the National Rifle Association during his gubernatorial re-election last year.

Presidential Hopeful Bill Richardson Bags Elk and Exotic Game in Hunts

Interesting.

What's also interesting is that this interview comes out now, after Richardson's
disastrous appearance on “Meet the Press,” as well as his abysmal
performance during the New Hampshire debate. There is no doubt he's got the
resume, as he told us repeatedly last Sunday, but he's not a very good campaigner,
so he's suffering greatly in the polls. But I don't know what the Richardson
camp thinks this will do for him with Democratic primary voters. If you've got
a clue, let me know.
