It’s Contempt

contempt resolution against White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and former
White House Counsel Harriet Miers, setting up a constitutional battle between
the Bush administration and Congress over executive privilege.House

Separation of powers isn’t a constitutional suggestion.
It’s long past time Congress
sent a message. Now it’s up to the Democratic leaders on whether or not to bring
the contempt citation up to a vote. They are readying to go out on summer recess
one week from Friday, coming back in September.
A senior Democratic official who spoke on condition of anonymity said the House itself likely would take up the citations after Congress’ August recess. The official declined to speak on the record because no date had been set for the House vote.
