Mr. 29%

Shorter Bush: you suck. Oh, and your policies are even worse. So anyone standing anywhere near him (you listening, Normie?) gets washed with the same dirty brush. If they support Bush on Iraq they’re in even bigger peril.

As for how Mr. Bush is at 29%, I have no idea.

More than seven in 10 favor removing nearly all U.S. troops from Iraq by
April. … .. …

•Sixty-two percent say the United States made a mistake in
sending troops to Iraq, the first time that number has topped 60%.

•Two-thirds say Bush shouldn’t have intervened in the case of former
White House aide Lewis “Scooter” Libby, who was sentenced to 2½
years in prison for perjury and obstruction of justice in the investigation
of who leaked a CIA operative’s identity. Bush voided Libby’s prison sentence
but let his conviction stand.

•Six in 10 say the economy is worse than it was five years ago, and
the same number predict that economic conditions are getting worse.

Bush
approval drops to low of 29%

The other reality in the poll, however, says that 55% of Americans want to
wait until September and after Petraeus gives his assessment of the mess in
Iraq before a new strategy is implemented, with 40% wanting one now.

One consolation for Bush is when comparing presidential lows, he is better liked than Harry S. Truman.

President Bush’s 29% approval rating leaves him still more popular than Harry
Truman at the low point of his presidency. Truman’s rating dipped to 22%.

However, Truman’s reputation rose after history’s judges weighed in. It’s been reported that Mr. Bush is holding out for historians to do the same for him. He shouldn’t hold his breath
on that one. But never fear, yet again Mr. Bush has joined Nixon, in worsts, of course.
