Gibson Producer Goes After Edwards

Gibson Producer Goes After Edwards updated

John Gibson is the poorest excuse for a tv and talk radio host, unless you’re counting
all the other wingnuts ranting live on the airwaves. But something his producer said yesterday reminds
me yet again that these wingnuts don’t stand alone. They’ve got people who actively promote their hate speech.

GIBSON: Our John Gibson program fraud alert today focuses on the biggest
fraud running for president, and that takes some doing. We’re talking about
the Breck Girl, Silky, the former senator from North Carolina, the baron of
a 28,000-square-foot manse, the protector of the poor while ensconced on a
pillow of 100 million dollars.

ANGRY RICH: A man who whored his wife’s cancer as a fundraising gimmick. … ..

MEDIA MATTERS

As Aravosis said on his blog today, we need to reach out and touch his sponsors.
These attacks on Democrats, but specifically John Edwards, are focused on our Democratic brand.
Feminizing our candidates also a way to imply we are too soft to lead in this
dangerous world blah-blah-blah. That’s where people like Gibson and his producer want to lead viewers
and listeners.

Of course, in this latest smear, Edwards’ basic integrity and character are being impugned. That Gibson is willing to use Elizabeth Edwards to get the job
done shows an audaciousness that should not stand. Let’s remember that Mrs.
Edwards has terminal cancer, regardless of the way she’s handling it. To accuse her devoted husband of using his own wife to make money for his campaign is beyond the pale. Isn’t everyone aware that Elizabeth is in this fight, too?

Why are sponsors supporting this mysoginistic hate speech? Why do they want
to be associated with Gibson’s show? Let’s reach out and touch Mr. Gibson. We
need a list of sponsors so we can get at them, but you can start by contacting
his show on Fox, “My Word.”

UPDATE: Producer sheepisly says he used a “poor choice of words.” Ya-think?
