Obama on SNL

Obama slipped in to the opener on Saturday Night Live last night, revealing
his cool. Nice job, Barack. All the Dems were represented in the opening skit, including Bill, which was something. However, the star of the night was Brian Williams who delivered
great stuff from firefighter to poking fun at himself. Hats off all ’round to
Williams. It’s not an easy gig and he pulled it off beautifully. If the writers strike — and they will on Monday — we’ll miss SNL.

To contrast with that energy, this morning we’ve got grandpa Fred on “Meet
the Press.” He’ll likely not show his cool, but hopefully won’t drool,
and actually deliver some excitement. Maybe he’ll just show up caffeinated,
which would be a huge improvement. No doubt he and Russert will have a lovely time
together. Something about them seems sympatico. Yes? When compared to Obama on SNL, Thompson will likely seem even more cadaverous.
