Obama Derangement Syndrome is Born

Obama is the least progressive of the top three candidates, but vote for him
anyway? This
makes no sense
.

3.) Who is running with the most progressive rhetoric? Edwards, first. Then
Clinton. And then Obama, who is still trying to be a palatable general election
candidate rather than close the deal in the primary. So riddle me this —
in a Democratic primary, where will many Edwards supporters go? Don’t assume
it’ll be Obama if they’re looking for the strongest Democratic voice in the
race.

Obama’s path to the nomination at this point runs through Democratic voters.
And ultimately, while my absentee ballot will be mailed out Monday with his
name checked off, I’m pessimistic that he can win. He has shown no proclivity
for speaking in unambiguous progressive tones, and it could cost him the election.

It’s Clinton Derangement Syndrome in action. She’s more progressive than Obama but she won’t get the man’s vote because… ?

Obama is not speaking in progressive terms, but instead is channeling Reagan
coalition
talking points. The reason he’s not speaking in progressive terms is because he’s
not an ideologue and doesn’t care about Democratic party ideals. What’s so tough
about that to understand? But he’s earned our vote anyway, according to some people. Obama’s courting of everyone but actual Democrats has led to an equally stubbom vein inside the Democratic
party: Obama Derangement Syndrome. Because Obama seems intent on running against Democrats in order to seduce Republicans
and independents.

Hey, but it’s only the Democratic party nomination, so seriously, why bother
looking for the “strongest Democratic voice?”

Everyone knows, I’m all for the delegate battle, and now that Obama’s campaign
is too, I’m all giddy. but saying “Barack Obama Wins Delegate Battle
in Nevada” really shows a lack of understanding in how the delegate process
works.

I’d encourage anyone that wants to see how it will unfold to read through
the NV draft (pdf) of the process.

All of these delegates in Nevada, today, in “the first determining step”
are “soft” pledges. There’s nothing concrete happening yet in the
delegate selection of Nevada, it just started today. We’ll check back April
19th, to see how it really goes down in Nevada on the state convention, and
even before that, in the county conventions on Feb 24th; but to claim a “delegate
win” today is just meaningless. … read

Though we disagree on one thing. The caucus system must go.

As for voting for Obama even though he’s the least progressive, it’s got the possibility of cracking this party in two at a time when we have a real chance at winning the White House. But Obama Derangement Syndrome has
been born, with a foundation that’s deep and hard. From “present” votes, to ducking Kyl-Lieberman, to making a speech against Iraq with no action since, and on and on, topped with Obama throwing Bill Clinton (the only two term Democratic president since F.D.R.) under a bus to prop up Ronald Reagan, it’s clear his allegiance isn’t to the Democratic party, but to himself alone. Oh, and his reaction to Clinton clearly beating him yesterday in Nevada hasn’t
helped. What has also hurt Obama a great deal is his unhinged fan base. They represent the thuggery that was also seen the last ten days in Nevada by Obama. Because of all these developments more and more people are already saying they will not
work for him if he’s our nominee. I hear it all the time. Now, people may hold their nose and vote for him in November,
though that’s also not clear right now, but if he’s the nominee many people are saying he’ll have to get to the White House by himself.

Sound familiar?
