Obama Hearts Fox, But Will He Debate?

Medic! Pharmaceuticals, please. Stat.

Picking your battles. Whether on the left or right, political partisans are
in a tailspin today, with nobody coming out looking very pretty, let alone consistent. My recent liberation from the herd has given me new clarity. The facts just
don’t support either side, when you look at the records of candidates, what
partisans say they support, and the actions the candidates are currently exhibiting, when compared to the criticism of their detractors. Progressive or conservative, left or right, consistency
has flown the coop.

Obama ducks out on a vote of confidence for MoveOn.org, but their members vote
to endorse him anyway.

Obama goes on “Fox & Friends,” as well as interviews on Fox “News”
doing an interview after the State of the Union, but nobody says anything.

Frankly, I saw them and I didn’t care. I understood it. We’re getting into
general election territory so Obama isn’t going to cut off part of his potential
voting audience. I gave him a pass, and to say I’m no fan is an understatement. But fair is fair and I didn’t care.

But Clinton is getting vilified for accepting a debate invitation, which was announced on a media call today, as the campaign
has done with “This Week,” MSNBC to be moderated by Chris Matthews,
as well as CNN, and yes, even Fox “News” on February 11th. The confusion
of the collective progressive blogosphere is complete. They say nothing about
Obama being on Fox, but Clinton, well, that’s a different story. After all,
it was only interviews on Fox, commercials on local Fox channels (because they wouldn’t accept his national buy) during the Super Bowl, not the horrible,
icky Fox “News” debate, which Clinton has accepted. You know, where Democratic ideals are discussed in front of potential
voters in November.

There’s as much ideological hypocrisy and confusion on the right. Coulter and
Glenn Beck choosing Clinton over McCain, as has James Dobson. Rush Limbaugh defending Hillary and
Barack on Iraq
:

The talk host said America’s direction in Iraq would not be substantially
different even if Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama were elected. “They are not
going to surrender the country to Islamic radicalism or the war in Iraq,”
Mr. Limbaugh said after mentioning the two Democratic senators by name. “They
are not going to do that to themselves, despite what their base says.”

“The idea that we’ve only got one person in this whole roster of candidates,
either party, who is willing to take on the war on terror is frankly, absurd,”
Mr. Limbaugh said.

Ms. Coulter is a wingnut extraordinaire, but her hypocrisy has finally been
revealed; same with Beck, but especially Dobson. So much for the “unborn,” that damn McCain must be stopped! Puh-leaze. Coulter said she could never vote for Rudy because
he’s pro choice. But her pro life agenda has been sold out. Because when it comes to McCain, nu-uh!
She’d rather vote for pro choice candidate Clinton, because… … got
me.

It makes as much sense as voting for Obama, who just today compared health care mandates to asking the homeless to buy a house. This after he channeled insurance industry talking points in “Harry and Louise” mailers. Go figure. Progressives would rather rail against Fox “News” than attack wingnut talking points being channeled by a major Democratic nominee. Because… … .. got me. Because Fox “News” is not more important than fearmongering on health care.

So tell me why Clinton should care what progressives say? They also ignored John Edwards, the man of ideas, for
Barack Obama, the man of “present” votes, ducking out on Kyl-Lieberman,
ducking out on MoveOn.org because… .. got me.

Not too long ago The Big Giant Head, aka Bill O’Reilly, had an ugly altercation
with one of Barack Obama’s staffers. The video went everywhere. It’s now scrubbed
on YouTube, no doubt because of the c.y.a. policy of Bill-O. Contained in that
tape was a back and forth with Barack Obama and O’Reilly, which went something
like this. Senator, will you come on my show?Yes. You’ll come on? After
the primaries. Come on my show? After the primaries.
Interesting back
and forth, which no one covered at all. But this isn’t surprising. Eventually,
reaching out and talking to the “most popular name in news” will be
important. John Kerry should have done the same. When I heard Obama say he’d
go on “The O’Reilly Factor” after the primaries, after he’d secured
the progressive vote in primary states and was our nominee, I knew what it was
about. I didn’t say a word. It made sense.

Debating on Fox “News” as we get into the general election season
does too. Now we’ll just have to see how many debates Obama accepts. Meanwhile,
the vilification of Hillary Clinton continues. McCain is dropped by pro-lifers
for pro choice Clinton because… … got me. Alert the media. Maybe they’ll know.
