Obama Plays Politics As Usual Card

This is classic. Obama says he’s not “plagiarizing” and that it’s
petty politics as usual to bicker about it. Then he has his campaign send
out an email, which Keith Olbermann regurgitates, thus playing petty politics
through his surrogates, something he daily decries. Doing the very politics Obama is
staking his presidential hopes on. You know, changing Washington politics as usual.
Scott Paul has it exactly
correct
:

“Meanwhile, as I write this, CNN reports that the Obama people are circulating
a comparison between a line from Clinton during the debate and a very similar
line used by John Edwards. That seems contrary to the whole point of Obama’s
rebuttal to the “plagiarism” charges, which is that people don’t
care about or like this tit for tat stuff. I agree — and the Obama campaign
should cut it out too. It doesn’t hurt Clinton at all and it undercuts Obama’s
credibility on political change, which is central to his candidacy.”

What’s even more jarring about the Obama camp sending this stuff around is
that it came at a moment in the debate when Clinton extended her hand to him,
also saying how proud she was to be running in the race with him. He’s never
been that gracious, with lines like “you’re likable enough, Hillary,”
all he can muster. And he pontificates that he’s the one that can bring people together?

Obviously, Obama’s team freaked when Clinton closed on an inarguably
stirring moment, which had the crowd jumping to their feet in a standing ovation. It was the moment of the night; her best since New Hampshire, which likely brought back memories. They obviously want to lock this down in Texas.
They likely are also ticked at the Xerox line, which they’re going to hear over
and over again in the coming days. Obama and his team had to find a way to knock
Clinton’s closer down, even if they applied the same old politics they decry.
That it also went against the very argument they’ve been making on Obama’s serial
ripoffs isn’t missed either.

On another note, in case you didn’t see it, Texas
happenings
:

Superdelegate Bob Slagle of Sherman, former chairman of the Texas Democratic
Party, said Thursday he is supporting Hillary Clinton for president and that
he’s been working to help her Texas campaign.

Clinton is on the morning shows tomorrow, 7:00 a.m. eastern, NBC’s Today
Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, then CBS’s Early Show.

Also, Obama’s attorney is squealing and threatened
the new pro Hillary 527
, American Leadership Project. They
shot back
. A former FEC commissioner
is on ALP’s side
, with a side of snark proved in their comment hitting the Obama team:

The pro-speech regulation community appears for the first time in this election
cycle to have found an egregious example of independent speech
and its name is the “American Leadership Project.”
… ..

Obama’s people come out looking very silly, saying they represent a different type of politics, while utilizing the very politics they complain about every time Mr. Hope opens his mouth.
