Boy, I bet Barack Obama was glad he was on vacation yesterday. But ever on the Democratic case, Fox “News” obliged.
The sunrise Easter sermon on Easter was entitled “How to Handle a Public
Lynching.” The video above speaks for itself. Looks like Rev. Otis Moss
III has chosen to follow in Rev. Wright’s footsteps, comparing the coverage
to Wright’s un-American harangues to the worst of America’s stained past on
race, something for which our ancestors no doubt had to answer for to keep themselves out of hell.
But on Easter Sunday, you’d think something beyond “lynching” would
be the subject.
“No one should start their ministry with lynching. No on should end
their ministry with lynching. The lynching was national news. The RNN, the Roman
News Network, was reporting it. … .. How do you feel about the lynching?”
– Rev. Otis Moss III
Via
Ben Smith we get a taped interview with Phillie’s Michael Smerconish and
Senator Obama, which aired today:
“… .. This is not a crackpot church. Witness the fact that Bill Clinton
invited him to the White House when he was having his personal crises. This
is a pillar of the community and if you go there on Easter on this Easter
Sunday and you sat down there in the pew you would think this is just like
any other church. … ..
Until the last couple of years, which now finds me meditating on Easter Sunday, I never in my entire life have heard anyone mention “lynching” on Easter Sunday. I’ve spent a few Easters inside a Baptist church as well. So excuse me if I find Trinity anything but “like any other church.” Hey, but that’s me, you know, just another “typical white person.” And again with the Bill Clinton Took A Photo analogy. You’d think having Matt Lauer, Joe Scarborough and the entire Fox “News” network laughing at you would have shut this story down for Obama and his team. They don’t get it.
Okay, so Mr. Obama says the place he’s worshiped for two decades is not a “crackpot
church.” I guess it depends on your definition of worship. Wright used
the n-word on Christmas Day, and on this past Easter Sunday, with all the heat on Trinity, Rev. Wright’s successor decided
that “lynching” is a way to greet the resurrection. Sorry, but talking
about the “Roman News Network” sounds pretty “crackpot”
to me. Hey, but us Episcopalians have always been a little contrarian and I thank
God for it.
Senator Obama’s church just keeps on giving. Unfortunately, it’s not the type of gift that will do Democrats any good at all against John McCain.
