Obama Gets Testy
Just imagine what would have happened if this exchange had been between Hillary Clinton, instead of Barack Obama.
She was rude!
She was arrogant!
She thinks she’s too good for us.
No one can begrudge a candidate for getting tired. No doubt some people get overbearing. To be fair, the guy evidently tries to make a profit on shots like this through Ebay, so you can almost understand Senator Obama’s reaction.
However, the part of the exchange that hit me and was the most telling was when Obama said that he’d take the picture, but he wouldn’t be smiling.
“Yea well whatever. Just take it. I won’t be smiling. Because you’re wearing me out. ….No no, you’ve been really rude about it. Just take a shot.” – Barack Obama
Did that strike any of you the same way? Petulant, at the very least. Obama’s reaction is part of the reason lunch bucket Democrats aren’t voting for him. It’s why polls are showing he’s a weaker general election candidate in important swing states. Obama sometimes comes off as an elitist jerk, when he could just as easily given the guy a picture, if just to shut him up.
Ms. Dowd jumped on Obama today.
Obama has been less adept at absorbing the lesson of Hillary’s metamorphosis from entitled queen of the party to scrappy blue-collar mama. His strenuous and inadvertently hilarious efforts to woo working-class folk in Pennsylvania have only made him seem more effete.
There it is; that word that sank John Kerry’s ship.
But again, if this exchange had happened with Clinton all hell would have broken loose. But at it is getting picked up: A Question of Temperament? Sean Hannity actually came to Senator Obama’s aid on this one, which can be taken as anything but pure in motive.
