Last night Clinton and Obama hit New York City to speak to 125 donors at $33,100 a plate. You do
the math or read the
pool report:
“The stakes could not be higher and the necessity of us to
have a united Democratic party that does everything we possibly can between
now and November to elect Senator Obama president is I hope self evident,”
Clinton said. She stressed unity given how hard it was for Democrats to
win the White House.“But since I’ve been an adult there have been ten presidential
elections, and democrats have only won three of them. So I take it
very personally that we have to win this time and I happen to know
very well the person who won those elections and I know how hard it is no
matter how good the candidate, no matter how clear the need for change, no
matter how the opponent presents himself. It is not easy for a democrat
to be elected president.”
Clinton, of course, is exactly correct. No one is taking November for granted,
because winning is definitely not a given, especially for Democrats. That’s why we need every single supporter of
Hillary’s following her lead. Find a way to get behind her; hold your nose, do whatever it takes. If she can endorse Obama, we can back her up. Nobody ever said this would be easy and it sure isn’t. However, there is just too much at stake.
Clinton will also attend an Obama Finance Breakfast with Obama this morning in New York; this one at the New York Hilton Tower. On Friday Clinton addresses the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) in Washington, D.C. Then on Saturday she’s scheduled to address the 80th Biennial American
Federation of Teachers Convention in Illinois.
Hey, what can we say, Obama isn’t the only one in big demand.
It’s sure nice to be a Democrat this year. It’s even sweeter to have Hillary back on the scene and lighting things up.
