Reporting from the Colorado Rockies

We stopped in Golden, Colorado to tour the Coors Brewery, and the funniest thing happened while waiting for the shuttle.
My husband and I were talking about John McCain’s veep pick, when I said I really believed Sarah “Quaylin” Palin was an insult to all qualified women, especially Kay Bailey Hutchison. When all of a sudden the woman in front of us whirled around and went off.
“I’m so glad you said that! What does he think, that women are stupid?” she said angrily. She continued, without me saying a word. “I’m a big supporter of Hillary Clinton, so after …” then her voice trailed off.
I asked her if she would mind telling me if she was a Democratic or a Republican. She said she was a Democrat but, “I was keeping an open mind after… you know. But after this? No way am I voting for John McCain! If this is his idea of judgment, forget it!”
Her husband felt the same way, saying it was such an insult to women.
“If McCain thinks he’ll get Hillary voters with this one, well…” and she just rolled her eyes.
I’m sure Sarah “Quaylin” Palin is a nice woman. She’s obviously got something on the ball to be a governor. However, I’m pretty sure there are more moose in Alaska than people. It’s a long way from being qualified to be commander in chief. That her running mate is 72 years old today now comes into stark view, frankly. Honest to heaven, it brings back horrendous memories of Dan Quayle, who was handsome and everything, but one deck short of commander in chief material. The Republicans have done it again.
Of course, the American people elected George W. Bush twice, so nothing will be taken for granted. McCain’s arm candy veep pick sure fits the Bush bill.
Make this an open thread. I’m on the road and will post again when I can.
