WJC is getting slammed.
So is Chris, Rock, that is. He may be my favorite funny man, but a political genius he is not.
I don’t like it when Bill blows smoke up McCain’s political sails, that’s for sure and I’ve said so. Hey, but there are lots of Democrats doing that, which I think is a horrible way to try to win an election. But anyone who’s been paying attention knows that you’re not going to hem him in. WJC says what he wants when he wants. Just ask Hillary, and no doubt sometimes much to her chagrin. Right now, it’s just not doing him much good with the doubters on Obama’s side, who nitpick everything the Clintons do and say, finding nothing quite good enough.
As for Obama, WJC is about to hit the campaign trail for Barack. What more can he do? The proof will be seen on the stump. No one brings ‘em in like Bill.
Besides, Barack still needs the Clintons to make the case where he cannot. Hillary’s doing more than her fair share; certainly more than Teddy did for Carter, or Reagan did for Ford. Everything else is just noise. The traditional media hack pack with nothing better to do but whine where the Clintons are concerned.
But it would be less than fully honest not to point out the obvious. There’s just no way WJC is going to alienate future and potential Hillary voters (including the unhinged fringe and those who’ve unwisely joined the Palin pack), just in case November doesn’t turn out the way we plan. Even as Hillary works her heart out for Barack.
