Waiting for this one to drop for a while. Via Haaretz:
Senior Tehran officials are recommending a preemptive strike against Israel
to prevent an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear reactors, a senior Islamic
Republic official told foreign diplomats two weeks ago in London. The official, Dr. Seyed G. Safavi, said recent threats by Israeli authorities
strengthened this position, but that as of yet, a preemptive strike has not
been integrated into Iranian policy. …
Wonder whether it was Bush or Cheney who made the call to get this little nugget
dropped.
The big news is supposed to be, I guess, that an “experienced group
of officials is lobbying for a preemptive strike against Israel.” They’re kidding, right?
Business as usual for the Iranians. The facts as to whether they can deliver are another matter.
But that doesn’t mean the McCainiacs won’t use it. Shorter: McCain looks like a loser as long as the economy is front and center. So, change the subject.
The Iran card is always a good one to play for Republicans. Against Obama, they believe national security is even better.
developing… Count on it.
