What if a new Republican star gave her inaugural speech on energy for the 21st century, but never mentioned global warming?
The thing you notice about Republicans today, from Sean Hannity to Rush Limbaugh to Sarah Palin, is they are all looking backwards. To Reagan, regardless of deregulation and the current financial collapse. Regardless of Greenspan’s admissions. That energy was never addressed, even after the warnings when Reagan came in.
As conservatives begin their navel gazing on what to do next, I’d first suggest they need to find a way to think about the future with leaders who represent it and the challenges we face, instead of looking back to remembered “glory” years that are dead and buried.
