Where it began, with liveblogging… and so it continues…
Some further thoughts over at twitter.
Good energy back and forth, with Obama dominating on a full throttle plan on energy. McCain says Obama wants to “restrict trade and raise taxes.”
Health care talk now… Okay, my problem with this conversation is that both of these men are being foolish. Our economy just took a dive. We’re in real trouble. We are so far away from a national health care plan that this back and forth I find insulting.
Obama as eloquent as it gets on Roe v. Wade. The Constitution has a right to privacy in it that shouldn’t be subject to states referendum (paraphrase). Obama then segues to Ledbetter and equal pay. Great moments for Obama supporting women’s civil rights.
“Health of the mother means almost anything,” says McCain, implying that it becomes an excuse to abort a child. Despicable.
…at the end they shook hands, with McCain looking very odd, eyes blinking continually (which happened throughout the debate), seemingly very uncomfortable, even nervous, with Obama as relaxed as ever.
As I’ve said before, even in McCain’s best moments, he’s politically outclassed. Tonight was no different.
