TROOPERGATE: Chicago Politics, Palin Style

BREAKING NEWS…
Governor Palin Abused
Power of Office

A group of ten Republicans and four Democrats voted unanimously to release a report (pdf) saying “Governor Sarah Palin abused the powers of her office,” by violating a state ethics law that forbids a public official from using his or her office for personal gain. The firing of Mike Wooten, her former brother-in-law, was an abuse of power, because of the pressure involved.

Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her
former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of
an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry
imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain’s Republican ticket.

Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report by a bipartisan panel that
investigated the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that
prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain. ..

The crux of the report revolves around Governor Palin allowing her husband, Todd Palin, to
have so many contacts with state employees, turning into a coercive effort to get the
state trooper, Mike Wooten, fired.

From political Republican star, Sarah Palin is now a liability.
