Honestly, what are the wingnuts going to do when President-elect Obama ignores our guns, and leaves wingnut radio untouched? The Republicans are going to get bored pretty quickly.
Sales of handguns, rifles and ammunition have surged in the last week, according to gun store owners around the nation who describe a wave of buyers concerned that an Obama administration will curtail their right to bear arms.
“He’s a gun-snatcher,” said Jim Pruett, owner of Jim Pruett’s Guns and Ammo in northwest Houston, which was packed with shoppers on Thursday.
“He wants to take our guns from us and create a socialist society policed by his own police force,” added Mr. Pruett, a former radio personality, of President-elect Barack Obama.
Seriously, Sean Hannity’s already started with the Fairness Doctrine pitchfork patter, saying President-elect Obama will censor right-wing radio, too. You know, after he gets the guns. Is he kidding? I’ll bet you the sky that this is not only the last thing on Obama’s mind, but it’s not even on his mind. Has Hannity seen the disaster W. is leaving? Besides, the Fairness Doctrine isn’t the answer. As for media consolidation, well, that is worth a conversation, but certainly not now.
This stuff cries out for a laugh track.
The “conservatives in exile” contingent, Hannity’s new lead in to his show, is great for Democrats. The gun stuff is just one example of their rhetoric overreach. They are actually also coming to Sarah Palin’s rescue, led by El Rushbo, thinking that reverting to Reaganism, which is now deader than he is, with the last bell tolling when the unregulated banking industry fell in on itself, being the last gasp of the Gipper’s policy prescriptions failing. But please, oh please, try to revert back to Reaganism, the man who opened the door for the right-wing religious fundamentalists in this country and has finally led the Republican Party off a cliff. Please, make Sarah Palin the Republican Party poster girl. Please.
The more the wingnuts reach for Reaganism the easier our job will be and the longer we will have to do what Americans want. Go Sean. Go Rush. Go Laura! Go.
