President-elect Obama Meets the Media

BY TAYLOR MARSH
–updated–

“I’m confident that a new president can have enormous impact.” – President-elect Obama

Reactions to the press conference?

Started out a bit halting. Not quite used to the back and forth, but got rolling at the end. Lynn Sweet standing up with her arm in a sling was the beginning of a shift, Obama finally exhibiting his personality. Dog drama can’t be easy, with one of his girls allergic, but with the family wanting to adopt from a shelter. A “mutts like me” was charming. Obama also seemed a bit drained and tired. Expected.

Obama also made it clear that there is one president at a time. Show of policy force was presented in pictorial form with Biden, Emanuel and his pre-administration economic team behind him.

It also seemed obvious that appointing a cabinet will take time, but that he knows he needs to do it as rapidly as possible, but he won’t be rushed and will make sure his decisions are correct.

… Oh, and one last thing. President-elect Obama could have done without the Nancy Reagan “seance” line when talking about speaking to presidents who were alive. Chalk it up to nerves.
