Israeli Election: 61 Votes Hard to Reach

Okay, so I just got near a computer after traveling today and this is the latest so far on early Israeli election results.

With 61 votes needed to form a government, it looks like Tzipi Livni (Kadima), and Bibi Netanyahu (Likud) will have to learn to work together.

Haaretz on early results:

The Central Elections Committee said Wednesday that with 27 percent of votes counted, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni’s Kadima Party is narrowly in first place with 27 of the Knesset’s 120 seats, with Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party following closely behind with 26 seats. …

AP over at Yahoo has a classic headline: Netanyahu declares victory in Israeli elections. The first line of the article is more on point. Too close to call.

90pct vote in-kadima now has 2 seat edge over likud. lvini gave a great speech tonight and invited bibi and barak into ehr govt. she said peace is not of left or right. she was propelled by young women comming out for her today-turnout was higher than anyone thought-65pct. one israeli woman said how heartbreaking it would be if livni was jilted by the boys on the govt for bibi. livni was attacke dwith sexist rhetoric in the campaign and she made good use of it against bibi. lets hope she can forma govt.

I sure hope so. I really like him.
So Israel may have a female p.m.
I’m waiting for our first female President one of these days!

Sounds like from something I read earlier that Coleman’s attorney keeps finding new ballots to count. Jeez!

Female PM is nothing new to Israel. Golda Meir was their fourth PM.
