GOP: The Party of Rush

It’s true and it has been for many years.

Republicans won’t do anything not sanctioned by Rush Limbaugh. When they offend him they apologize on bended knee.

But just look where it’s gotten them.

They’ve lost the House.

They’ve lost the Senate.

President Obama was put into office with historic numbers. Democrats won Virginia, Indiana, the list goes on and on.

So it’s not a bit surprising to me that Democrats are planning to drive this point home again and again. Via Greg Sargent:

… “I’m encouraging every Democrat, every progressive, to be pointing out this powerful but painful truth: The party of Lincoln is now the Party of Limbaugh,” Begala continued. “We should make every Republican answer this: Why do they want our president to fail?”

Begala’s partner on CNN, James Carville, who first articulated the Rush message in early February, is also pushing Dems to blare this message, he confirms. “He is the embodiment of the Republican party, circa 2009,” Carville said. …

Right-wing radio was successful in taking down Bill Clinton a notch, to include impeachment for consensual sex, and they put and kept Dubya in office. But we may finally, at long last have reached the tipping point. If Democrats play this right we could marginalize Rush, because it’s clear the Republicans just don’t get it. Or maybe they don’t have the courage to admit it and take Rush on. Okay by me.

But just maybe Romney gets it. From CPAC:

“In the last eight years, we saw how a president’s political adversaries could be consumed by anger, and even hatred. That is not the spirit that brings us together. We want our country to succeed, no matter who’s in power. [...]

I don’t think these clowns will ever get it. Watching CPAC I saw Tucker Carlson almost get booed off the stage for standing up for the NYT. Look at the new up and coming stars of the party, they are in Rushes image. Palin, Kantor, Steele, Jindal and Joe the “I’m not a real plumber. The party of NO really is Rushes party, and this is all they have. Makes me a happy camper.

Rush can’t take scrutiny being focused on his venom that he couches as “conservative principles” and he can’t handle anyone, especially Republicans challenging him in any way. They should realize he is poison for their party and if they don’t the lose AGAIN.

    ooooh, how about this:

Bunning Threatens To Resign To Hurt His Party

Bunning “reportedly said privately that if he is hindered in raising money for his re-election campaign he is ready with a response that would be politically devastating for Senate Republicans: his resignation.”

Not wanting our president to succeed…..Repugnantklans live in their own “PeeWee’s Money Playhouse”. They have raw sewage running through their veins. What proud, country loving patriot would wish his leader and the rest of the citizenry to fail? They forget that we fail as a whole.

By the minute, they expose themselves for the scums that they really are. When have they ever cared for humankind ? — unless, however, there are big bucks to grab.

I am ashamed to live with these people who masquerade as something they clearly are not. They truly give our nation a very bad name. Can we excommunicate them from the USA? I am rejoicing at their slow demise…..political scumdogs.

(What can I say? It’s been a tough week and it feels good to put these ogres down.)

I remember not long after that inauguration, when President Obama was meeting with republicans, he told them something like “you can’t just listen to Rush and Hannity” and all the talking heads were beside themselves and were aghast why Obama would want to bring up Rush. Pat Buchanan couldn’t understand why Obama would elevate Rush to such a level. It amazes me that they can’t see that what Obama was really doing was downgrading the GOP to Rush’s level.

  6. Taylor Marsh 27 February 2009 at 9:05 pm #

Good point, maxadog. The reality is that Rush is already elevated. Good grief, look at his ratings, his latest contract. Dems can’t elevate him any further. The only job they can perform given this opportunity is to make him a target, along with his wingnut radio cohorts.

Off Topic – but I know we are always looking for good Dem representatives to be on television and watching Bill Maher, I must say that Gavin Newsom is very good. I live in San Francisco, so of course I see a lot of him, but viewing him with a “national” perspective, he’s very good. He was on Hardball’s late night episode after Obama’s NSOTU speech and he was very good on that as well.

How very true Ms. Marsh. Although I don’t think it wise to “make him a target”. Just make sure anytime the Dems refer to the GOP be sure to mention that limpwithnoballs and the GOP want President Obama and by extension America and Americans to fail.
Maybe mention the size of his contracts compared to folks losing jobs and homes and the amount these individuals will recieve from the Stimulous package and that limpwithnoballs(mention size of contract again) didn’t want them to get even THAT small amount.

The Dems are smart to say Rush every chance they get. Outside of the shrinking Repub base, with Independents and Dems, he is a loser.

    See from TPM, Feb 8th

Poll: Limbaugh Could Galvanize Dems, Alienate Independents

A new Gallup poll explains why Democrats are now so eager to connect the anti-stimulus bill Republicans to Rush Limbaugh, and to set up Rush as the new Leader of the Opposition: Independents hate him, he can galvanize Democrats…and Republican voters actually do like him.

Limbaugh’s favorable-unfavorable numbers among Republicans stand at 60%-23%. Among independents, though, he’s at just 25%-45%. And Democrats definitely have it in for him at 6%-63%. Multiplying out the partisan subsets in this poll, we get an overall top-line result of 28% favorability for Limbaugh across the country, compared to 45% unfavorable.

So if Limbaugh does become a national issue, the data shows he could be a net plus for the Dems — though the obvious caveat exists that swing voters could have more important things to worry about than some radio loudmouth.

I so don’t buy into this. Rush L. hits home when he hits the real issue. He often doesn’t. The difference between Rush and a real politician is that difference.

He pushes conservatives to not apologize for Iraq, for example.

I never supported the war, not even in the emotions of 9-11.

But I agree with Rush 100% on this.

    No apologies.

Do it. Do it right. Support it.

I didn’t once buy into Iraq, just as I’m not buying into Afghanastan.

But if I lose on the next one, I lose.

Then I’ll be in the same place.

Do it, do it right, and support it.

Rush isn’t remotely the “head” of Republicans.

He does have, obviously, his finger on the pulse.

    The Democrats are envious, obviously.

No talk show that leans their direction has ever really attracted many listeners.

    Why is that?

    I don’t get it.

    LMAO ;-)

  12. Just Wondering 28 February 2009 at 3:34 am #

And N.C. is now a Blue State. With a Democratic Governor yet again, but this time … a woman. Double whammy for the cigar-smoking-viagra-oxy-popping “feminazi hating” King of comedy who can’t figure out why women aren’t “with him.”

Democrats have to make Republicans own Rush and li’l Ann Coulter and Glenn “Crazy” Beck; but we’d all be better off if they don’t. We’d be better off if they would reject these posers outright and loudly. If regular Republicans will just show up, things will be better all the way around for the whole country.

One can only hope to da GAWD dat ain’t der that the repugs are stupid enough to take your advice AnninCa!!

“I never supported the war, not even in the emotions of 9-11.

One also has to wonder about the intelligence and morals of someone who could say this?!
Allow me to paraphrase…Yeah, hundreds and hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians who NEVER were a threat to the US have been MURDERED and we’ve broken international laws and committed warcrimes doing it and I never supported this war but that’s OK, for politicol points but DON’T EVEN APOLOGIZE!!!!!!

That you could say something as morally bankrupt as this says all anyone would ever need to know about the repugnantklan mind at this point in time.

  14. secularhumanizinevoluter 28 February 2009 at 6:59 am #

And incidently, “Rush L. hits home when he hits the real issue.”

other then when he admitted that he lied without hesitation “I’ve had to carry the water of people who frankly weren’t worth carrying it for” WHAT has this draft dodging coward, drug addicted, impotent, HIPPOcrite been right or “hit home” about?!

You remind me of that Iraqi official who was standing in front of a camera talking about how GREAT things were going as you could see American Armor entering the streets behind him. You are genuinely pathetic.

    ___

it’s not his finger, it’s his thumb and it’s stuck up his rear end…

and I feel sorry for him because his arteries will clog before he has another clear thought.

Ann, for someone who supported Hillary Clinton you sure are enamored of a Woman hating, Woman bashing jerk (that would be Rush). What gives?

This is the funniest rambling I’ve ever heard about Rush Limbaugh for the reasons others have stated above. But seriously, that pulse went dead in the last election. He was for Sarah Palin! Wow, AnninCA, your trolling is reaching tipping point proportions.

I’m kinda glad ol limpwithnoballs has porked up again. It’s just a matter of time until he is caught with his viagra and a prostitue of some gender or another.
What I would LOVE to see is some well off proggressive fund some journalist to go to the country that ol limpwithnoballs got nabbed for the illegal viagra script coming back from.
I seem to recall it being the Dominican Republic AND that it was/is known as a place rich. fat, white gringos go to for child prostitutes. Walk around and show limpwithnoballs picture and see if anyone recognizes him. Could get REAL interesting!

In my arrogant opinion anyway Ms. marsh. Ya know I LOVE ya doncha?
