It begins at 8:00 p.m. eastern. Excerpts were sent out. I’ll just offer a couple of key graphs.
[W]e’ve put in place a comprehensive strategy designed to attack this crisis on all fronts. It’s a strategy to create jobs, to help responsible homeowners, to re-start lending, and to grow our economy over the long-term. And we are beginning to see signs of progress.
… … We will recover from this recession. But it will take time, it will take patience, and it will take an understanding that when we all work together; when each of us looks beyond our own short-term interests to the wider set of obligations we have to each other – that’s when we succeed. That’s when we prosper. And that’s what is needed right now. So let us look toward the future with a renewed sense of common purpose, a renewed determination, and most importantly, a renewed confidence that a better day will come.
Not to miss an opportunity, President Obama also talks about green jobs, something the Wall Street Journal (that’s right) wrote about as well, which is a good sign as far as I can tell.
Green is in:
That’s what clean energy jobs and businesses will do. That’s what a highly-skilled workforce will do. That’s what an efficient health care system that controls costs and entitlements like Medicare and Medicaid will do. That’s why this budget is inseparable from this recovery – because it is what lays the foundation for a secure and lasting prosperity.
Oh, and since we’re talking green stuff, Al Gore has announced his new book, Our Choice, which will pick up where An Inconvenient Truth left off. Got a release from his office today.
Obama up in a little over an hour.

He’s going to say all that without a teleprompter ?
Imagine that.
Hannity will have to do without his favorite Putdown.
“Green is In” great!
Every time I talk to my 22 year old son I mention this subject as something he should consider as a career. … At least kids this age have some prospects that look promising.

GeoT, yeah – that was pretty good. They could have filled 30 minutes with Bush stumbling.
The gal on O’Really who interprets body language jumped on Obama the other day for nodding Yes when he was saying No. What an idiot. Obama was obviously nodding, “I understand your question”.
But then – she doesn’t get paid unless she puts down those stupid Librals.

Geo – You can follow or be followed or both. I’m a follower. No one cares what I have to say and my life isn’t that interesting…

Nobody can argue with you.

“CNN seems to think Ed Henry got to Obama.”
Hahahaha, talk about spin.
Ed Henry got PWNED by the POTUS.
Folks making fun of him all over the internets.
CNN must be covering for him
Chuck Todd still needs to come up with better questions.
CNN is becoming (has become) irrelevant. It will be interesting to see how they attempt to fix things and if they even can. Total overhaul needed, IMHO.
Henry clip is already up

I just watched a little feedback.Chris Matthews appears to be buying into the budget. That is good.
I thought Obama sounded great tonight.Smart in command of the facts, cool as usual.
Krugman said something interesting on the ‘News Hour’ tonight. He ssid that Obama had spent his political life thinking about things like healthcare, education and energy but not the economy. He thinks Obama needs economic advisors who are on the same social wavelength as him.
That was a terrible paraphrase but you can catch him on the PBS website.
Geo…I agree Chuck Todd asked a lame question that was Bush referential. He is dealing with a whole new cat who is so much smarter than he is it is embarrassing. That question also reflected the media bubble. As if Americans were not already struggling.
Todd is not all bad as an analysist but give him the spotlight and he gets lighweight for some reason.
I accidentally went to Tweeter.com, no one was there

I mean he had all damn day to come up with a cogent question and that’s what he settled on? He needs a producer to take charge and tell him what to say and when, at least ’till he gets better at his job.
The weird thing is this Morning on Morning Joe he was ssying that he wanted his question to come from the people?? He put the request out on his blog.
Taylor said on twitter that it looked like the teleprompter messed up…I had the same thought. He appeared to have to fill in words for a minute and I think it speeded him up faster than his comfort level. She said it was a new arrangment that had him looking more at the cameras.
I don’t understand why people have a problem with the teleprompter. With all of the subject matter he deals with during an average day he does not have time to memorize a speech. He does great in the Q and A.

I agree, the message is what matters. And he does just fine in impromptu situations like Town Halls. The teleprompter issue is an attempt to try to exploit what some see as a weakness…. problem with that tack is Obama is getting his message through to the people just fine (at least if you believe the polls)
AudieGrl
You are drop dead gorgeous!
Oh and LL:
You can tell the new wingnut talking point is Obama is “ANGRY” Rush used it today and Alex Castellanos just mimed it on CNN saying “just under the surface” Obama seems angry and that could mean he’ll be a “one termer” The wingnuts walk in lockstep… Oh and Michelle is angry as well… everyone is angry, we need to be afraid.
Go over to Digby to get info on a online Q and A Obama is having tomorrow with submitted questions. Sounds interesting.
I don’t understand why teleprompter = no bueno and note cards = fine by us.
GeoT – some good twitterers for political snark.. @anamariecox, @mikemadden, @mattcooper, @dceiver (Jason Links from HuffPo); @thefix (Chris Cilizza); @shuster1600 and @jaketapper (less of a tool in his tweets)

bingo.
Betsy,
Well, I’m tickled to catch up with everyone. I as with my daughter tonight meeting with the florist for her wedding. I was hearing Obama’s conference on NPR on the way home and caught the televised portion in the last 45 minutes.
I thought he did great. I thought the MSM came off as lame. Newbys – Oldbys name I have never been enamored by either Obama adult. I am as tickled as I can be with what they have both pulled off – especially him – so far. Granted, I think a lot has been style. But I don’t care as long as the style points carry a productive agenda.
I think, in general, they are doing a good job. It’s nice to have leadership you can believe in for the first time in 8 years. I’m pleased at the prospect of competence.

Grade ?
out of a 10 I give him 100 …
Like he said, HE did NOT run to preside over a country, HE run to LEAD and that is exactly what he intends to do …
I thought Obama did a great job. Its so nice to have brains in the white house again. I wish I could say the same for the Washington Press. Most of the questions were pretty lame.

the ONE term President is what he was saying.
Is it just me?
FOX seems infatuated with big nosed blonde women.
Rachel seems equally infatuated with short-haired gay women.
So now President Obama is “angry” and Michelle is “angry too”…..
It must just KILL conservatives that they can get none of their BS to stick to the President. They only people repeating their crap are the talking heads.
The President tonight?
Oh, he was in fine form.
The press?
Not so much.
(though I like that the President is calling on smaller publications like Stars and Stripes)
Besides Ed Henry my favorite question, as always, was Major Garrett bring the crazy.
The best moment was when the camera panned to Rham and he was smirking….dance puppets dance….
heh-heh… Hey, pm. Twitter’s very handy when I’m out of the office, so I hope you all will come along some time, maybe even comment here on it, as LL did tonight.

The 64 days he’s had in office alone should guarantee him a dictatorship … ( insert wingnuts going crazy here … )
lol …
Another O’Really comment: “He only took 13 questions.”
FIX news also had to show off the ‘teleprompter screen’ at the beginning.
Ann Compton:
“Has the last 64 days been a color blind time”?
How about: “You’re black right? what’s that all about?’
