…and a message to China. Signed, Barack:
The U.S. Navy has dispatched a guided-missile destroyer to the South China Sea after Chinese ships allegedly harassed an American ship operating there last weekend, a Pentagon official said yesterday.
The USS Chung-Hoon, armed with torpedoes and missiles, is stationed in protection of the USNS Impeccable, an ocean surveillance ship. [...] The Hawaii-based destroyer, with a crew of about 275, was in the region for a regularly scheduled deployment and was diverted to the escort mission, the official said. “It’s not like we specially deployed another ship,” he said.
Consider this a Friday topic free for all. If you’ve got something on your mind, let it fly.

How convenient. That’s an Aegis destroyer that can carry the SM-3. The Koreans are going to notice that.

Ginsburg: Possible Supreme Court Opening “Soon”
BOSTON — Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told law students Friday there could be an opening on the Supreme Court soon but didn’t hint at who might be leaving.

Well, I’ve been off the puter because hubby has pneumonia, so I have to make sure he rests. Which he doesn’t like to do. But the doctor said if he didn’t and was short of breath they may have to put him in the hospital like it or not. I guess they wanted him in when he went to the doctor, but he talked them out of it.

That’s why my MIL ALWAYS goes to the doc WITH my FIL.
I know, and I should have gone with him.
Betsy,
My thoughts are with your husband, pneumonia is no joke. Hoping he gets well soon.
I visited my doctor today, and low and behold, they had computerized my (very thick stack) of medical records! My doctor also is involved in a community based hospice group, and he said they already received 113,000 dollars in stimulus money last week, to hire more medical staff for their patients. They have been receiving computer training to learn the new computerized system, and he said this should help save money and save lives.
Thanks ag. Wow, that really is great. Makes me believe that the whole stimulus thing IS working despite the fears they try and conger up on TV.
Betsy,
I was pleasantly surprised too, it was my first time hearing someone personally talking about the money going for good use.
Also, flipped by Faux Noise early today, and they had a segment on about a college in California that has a course on Wind Turbines. The reporter was up at the top of the turbine with the instructor. They are training young people to work on them. Its an 8 week course, four nights a week, for four hours. At the end of the course, they get certified, and a job interview. The instructor said that the were all practically guaranteed jobs, and that if they were willing to travel, they could eventually earn up to six figures, and that there were already 39K different wind farms in operation, so they have a strong need for more people to work on them. Then the instructor said that thanks to President Obama alot of young people would find careers. I thought the Fox reporter would jump off the ledge. LOL
Guess, even they have to report good news about the stimulus, even if it is by accident.

I guess it is counterbalanced by Glenn Beck, who apparently can sympathize with the nut in Alabama who killed 10 people. He feels he was pushed to the wall by political correctness. Beck is possibly the sumiest of the lunatic fringe wingnuts, and this nut has an hour a night on Fox.
sumies – that should have been scumiest
He (Glenn Beck) is so off the wall, its totally unreal. I can’t take the ranting that he, Hannity and Lamebrain pull every day. It’s disgusting. And what down right liars they are.
By the way, coming up on Olbermann is all about Glenn Beck rationalizing about that guy.
Fox is planning on replaying Becks show each night at 2am ET. His ratings are so high. (scary thought)
But he is so over the top, Fox’s Shep Smith made fun of him today.

Beck is inciting people to violence, IMHO.

yep, sanctioning violence… “The liberals made me do it”
What’s on my mind is this crazy poll that shows that 45% think Chris Brown was provoked.
I decided that it’s nothing more than you can’t poll teens.
They are contrary, just to screw with pollsters.
Otherwise, the results are simply too dismal to consider!
Why is it that so many of the repug spokspeople are pudgy to fat, white, male, drug addicts? limpwithnoballs with hillbilly heroin and beck with booze?
AnninCa Why dismal? I am sure, abso-farkin-lutly sure that had they asked party affiliation or political leanings the majority of the Minority(thank the GAWD who ain’t even thre) would be repugs. It falls right in line with the bullcrap about wives should “submit” to their husbands along with attempting to deny women reproductive rights.

Whenever my elderly 86 year old dad sees a Republican on t.v., he calls him a fag, and says they are all hiding something.
He always brings up the fact that after Phil Gramm courted Texas with his liberal Democrat views, all Southern Texas Hispanics voted for him, and then he switched parties. My dad has hated all Republicans ever since.
