Conservative Women for America’s Day of Misinformation

Photobucket

Every time I think I can’t be more appalled by what’s going on at Concerned Women for America, I’m always delivered into an alternative universe that raises my blood pressure. Good thing I’m a work out rat, because otherwise I’d blow a fuse.

It’s called “Day of Truth,” but it’s anything but:

…Sharing the message that there is an alternative to the born-gay rhetoric in a redemptive and hope-filled manner is also important in reaching gay-identified peers. There may be some who have accepted their homosexuality simply because they have heard no alternative. Your message of hope may have a significant impact on those individuals. Being compassionate and concerned for the well-being of those dealing with homosexuality may even open the door for those who have never shared their struggle with anyone. And most importantly, trust the Holy Spirit and follow His leading! It is the greatest value when you allow God to work through you and your own insecurities when reaching gay-identified students.

God can save you from the gay, compliments of the Conservative Women of America. Ho-boy. They just don’t get it. If they didn’t choose their heterosexuality, why do they think gays and lesbians choose to be gay?

OMG, what a bunch of loonies. My son would laugh his head off on this one.

“Born” versus “Choice”. This question has been around my entire life – but recently I’ve seen a *huge* shift amongst people toward “born that way”. However – there are people who will go to their graves believing gays are a “choice”, and an insane one. It does seem to me there is a fundamental difference between a gay woman and a gay male – and the two may never truly understand the other. That may make it easier for women to feel as these women do.
Not making excuses for them – but there IS a difference.

You know who else believes in “pray away the gay?”

    Our favorite special needs Governor.

    pmichael -

what’s the fundamental difference between gay men and women?

  7. kris 02 April 2009 at 5:51 pm #

No justlen. Our fav Governors best friend is gay.

  8. pmichael 02 April 2009 at 5:53 pm #

kris – At the very least – ‘attitudes’. All four groups find two women kissing pretty acceptable (hetero males included). Two men kissing doesn’t get a great response amongst hetero males (see all the men who wouldn’t go see Brokeback Mt.). Religious attitudes are based on the ‘spilling/wasting of the seed’. No such problem with gay women.

  9. pmichael 02 April 2009 at 6:02 pm #

As a lifelong hetero male ;-) I can honestly say watching two women making love is pretty cool – very cool, in fact. However, any hint of two men making love makes a shiver go up my back – and I will certainly turn away. I don’t think I’m really unusual in that regard. In fact, I *know* I’m not thanks to 50 years of dealing with other hetero males.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I wonder how many of the terms which are derogatory intentional putdowns (such as ‘fag’, ‘dyke’, ‘fairy’, etc.) did not originate in the hetero male sector. Not many, I’m guessing.

no way to pray away the gay… that scene in Bill Maher’s “Religelous” on this very subject was priceless… the supposedly “cured” guy (who now wants to help others) was in obvious and painful denial about himself.

  29. secularhumanizinevoluter 02 April 2009 at 7:29 pm #

I am curious about a couple of things and I sure wish these fine upstanding GAWD fearin womenz will enlighten me.
    1. Whay are so many of the children of rightwingnut nation gay? I’m talking about Chenny, that jackass Allen Keys, who incidentaly cut his daughter OFF when she came out. Now THERE’S a UUUUberchristian fambly VALuuuuues kinda guy, Phylis Shafly etc. etc. etc.
    2. Why is it UUUUberchristofacistic MericanTaliban leaders like Fawlwell and Robertson had gay assistants and never knew? Shouldn’t GAWDdafaddallmighty have like…told them during a toung talkin episode or word of knowledge?
    3. Why are so many of the rightwingnut UUUUberchristians…AND repugnantklaners gay? The list is frankly to long, probably shorter to name the few who AREN’T gay at this point.
Can you good womenz answer me those lil ol questions?

  30. Betsy 02 April 2009 at 7:34 pm #

OMG I’m LMAO at sec. That was absolutely great secular. Loved It!! :-)

  31. pmichael 02 April 2009 at 7:36 pm #

Secular – you may be falling victim to ‘headlines’ syndrome. I’m pretty sure Dems and Repubs have a very similar percentage of gays. However – when someone on the Left comes out – it isn’t nearly as newsworthy as when a ‘Righteous’ Righty gets exposed.

  32. Betsy 02 April 2009 at 7:54 pm #

Just got an email from a friend of mine who was a Hillary supporter. Here is what she said. And I think she said it very well IMHO!!

    Hi Betsy,

Am just hearing the BBC broadcast about the conclusion of the global
summit meeting, where Obama managed to convince Europe to see things the
way he does. At the start, all the pundits said it would be doubtful,
because so many leaders were against the proposals. He must be a
near-genius at persuasion. I’m so glad he’s our president (but surely
we deserve something after the previous disaster we had to live with).

  33. Betsy 02 April 2009 at 7:56 pm #

Not to change the subject (but I am), I’m thrilled today because the spoiled brat Jay Cutler was traded to the Bears. He is such a spoiled brat. Two weeks ago he said he wanted to be traded. Then yesterday he told a Fox reporter that he didn’t want to be traded, he loves Denver. Geez, he is ridiculous.

Secular – you may be falling victim to ‘headlines’ syndrome. I’m pretty sure Dems and Repubs have a very similar percentage of gays. However…”
Yeah, however. However the Dems haven’t fashioned twenty years worth of gay bashing as a politicol tool and stratigy to get the toung talkin, alterboy sodomizing, selfhating, self loathing closeted gay crowd and the bigots who love them till they come out to vote for them.
Dems admit that sex is fun, feels good and we try to do it with WILLING partners(heads up ORielly) as often as possible in as many combinations and positions as possible.
Repugnantklaners WANT to act like Dems in these matters but their self hatred and shame based world view leads them to frequent prostitutes(more repugs then I can name)sodomize UNWILLING boys(that whole Chatolic Church thingy) and kill people through unprotected or bareback gay sex aka Roy Cohen and Andrew Sullivan.
So when you look at it….NO, the repugs are just as vile and reprehensable in their sexuality and expressions there of as they are about just about everything else.

  35. secularhumanizinevoluter 02 April 2009 at 9:32 pm #

Did I mention the repug lobbyist who had to quit I think it was Doles campaign because of his adds in B&D magazines?

  36. djjl 02 April 2009 at 9:49 pm #

My 2 cents then gotta go…….

I thought President Obama played it just right….makes me think he’s as smart as he says he is….(does not apply to a vote he did not make or have to make).

Michelle Obama was SPECTACULAR……….It was very nice of her to invite her husband along. Personally, I’m very happy for what she has done in representing my country – I hope she is proud of herself. She should be.

    PS

Before any newbies start making accusations ………check out what I’ve said over many months and still consider accurate reservations and considerations. Still happy with the POTUS’s overall calls at this point – not happy with what happened before.

  37. PissedOffAmerican 02 April 2009 at 11:07 pm #

Well, if its a choice, some gays make it in infancy. I grew up with a friend in my neighborhood that was obviously “different” from the get-go.

I’m a little curious if these homophobic crones think an adolescent boy, waaaaay pre-puberty, wakes up one morning and says, “Gee, I think I’ll be attracted to boys, and start acting effeminate”. The fact that his older brother and his two sisters are straight would seem to discount blaming “upbringing”.

  38. AliceP 02 April 2009 at 11:52 pm #

    WTF???
Don’t you all on this thread realize that the “choice of the gay lifestyle” was another of the Republican talking points that they brought out in the mid-1980′s?? (along with: our schools are failures so we need VOUCHERS and other such nonsense).

This is when the republicans realized and started marketing using the concept: IF YOU REPEAT A LIE OFTEN ENOUGH EVERYONE WILL BELIEVE IT.

The “gay’s CHOOSE their LIFESTYLE (like your own identity is something like choosing your furniture) bull is now so accepted, even some gay’s describe themselves with the term LIFESTYLE.

This is totally wrong — enough of a rant from me, but somehow I expected the crowd here to have a better memory and realization that this entire issue surfaced from the politcal “wars” of the 1980′s.

What better way to diminish gays that to call their lives a “lifestyle choice” -

That’s as far as “this crowd here”‘s memories. But the NEW crop of voters DON’T know that. You’re lucky if alot of them know what DAY it is let alone when the repugnantklan instituted a cynical, dishonest appeal to bigotry.
As a social experiment for my own edification I started asking new apprentisis hired at the studio I was foreman at two questions. I explained that how they answered them would have no influence on their job reviews. The questions were
    1. How many Senators there are in the US Senate and
    2. How many Supreme Court of The United States Justices there are.
These were college graduates, most of them from the top 5% of their respective classes.
NOT ONE GOT BOTH QUESTIONS RIGHT!
    I rest my case.

  40. AnninCA 03 April 2009 at 4:57 pm #

I have no opinion on these issues. It’s all very “political” to me, because I don’t have any deep opinion.

I couldn’t care less. I never have understood, personally, why anyone cares so much about other people’s lifestyles.

When I was raising my own kid, my biggest issue about other parents revolved around which parent let kids throw beer parties and acted like they were actually supervising.

I don’t even get or care about this other stuff.

  41. secularhumanizinevoluter 04 April 2009 at 12:37 pm #

“AnninCA says: I couldn’t care less. I never have understood, personally, why anyone cares so much about other people’s lifestyles.”
Funny, all of your apparent politicol heros are REAL interested in other peoples sex lives.
