…and I mean that in a positive sense. If you saw my husband’s truck you’d get it (most of you have heard me talk about it).

After Phil Griffin did his best to throw a curve ball, stating MSNBC might do reruns, “The Ed Show” is in. This is the gig Schultz has wanted for a long time.

Good for him… and us. Another lib on the TV machine, as Ms. Maddow calls it.

Rush Limbaugh couldn’t cut it in this most personal of mediums. Ed’s new gig is likely to drive Rush mad, maybe even inspire him to Jenny Craig.

One of the things Mr. Schultz said tonight on “Countdown” was that labor has gotten the shaft and he wants to talk about it. Now that’s must see TV.

Shuster will co-host, which is a better fit, with Tamron Hall. Norah O’Donnell moves to the morning.

Excellent choice. Progressive pro-labor populism…proudly on the TV airwaves!

Do you mean he will take over the spot Schuster has now? I’m still mad a Schuster for saying waht he did about Chelsea Clinton and other CDS but sometimes I can’t help myself he cracks me up. He did today, he is so goofy. What I have always liked about him is the fact that he calls Repubs on their BS.

I’m glad if Schultz is going to take up the working man’s and women’s cause, sombody needs to.

  3. Taylor Marsh 01 April 2009 at 10:05 pm #

    Hey Scott.

It really is an addition that is quite different from the rest of the crew over at MSNBC. I’d like to see Ed feature Patrick J. Buchanan. I think that would be a hoot.

  4. c chicago 01 April 2009 at 10:16 pm #

I am not so thrilled – Schultz was brutally unfair and just plain disrespectful toward Hillary Clinton during the primaries last year.

  5. maxadog 01 April 2009 at 10:16 pm #

I love it! I used to flip back and forth between MSNBC and CNN, but I am now a firm MSNBC’er. CNN has become unwatchable.

The prime time line up on MSNBC is hitting their stride and I think they will just continue to find their groove.

Even Chris has loosened up. Tonight he said he liked Al Franken’s politics. It was also funny seeing him talk about FLOTUS’ fashion sense. It was lighthearted and fun. Chris isn’t always on the mark, but he obviously has an affection for the Obama’s and when Chris wants to, he can really drop some knowledge (especially when he’s on a tear against Cheney).

No doubt about it re: Clinton during the primaries. However, that’s stopped since Obama became president.

As for Shuster, he never misses an opportunity to slam HRC. Still.

  7. Lake Lady 01 April 2009 at 10:24 pm #

It would be a hoot Taylor, they will agree on a lot of things like economic justice and probably trade. The things they will disagree on will come up less often, social values and morals.

They really disagree on Sarah Palin!

Buchanan makes alot of sense to someone like me who does not have an MBA from Harvard. When he talks about the hollowing out of our industral base as an economic issue and a security issue,I agree.

  8. Lake Lady 01 April 2009 at 10:28 pm #

I think when Shuster does that he is playing to the village. He has zero social skills and he thinks that earns him points. I found Schultz unwatchable during the primary and for a long time after.

  9. Betsy 01 April 2009 at 11:09 pm #

LL you are so right about watching Shuster today. He really was a hoot. And he does go after the repubs.

  10. Iceblinkjm 01 April 2009 at 11:32 pm #

Interesting. I will have to tune in and see what he sounds like these days. I couldn’t stand the guy in the primaries. I hadn’t heard he’d taken a populist bent. Wonder how he feels about the bailout.

Oh boy, Michelle put her arm around the Queen. Supposedly a breach of etiquette according to a brit. They showed it on CNN and the Queen also had her arm around Michelle. It was oh so brief. Oh well, they live in a fish bowl now.

  12. Iceblinkjm 01 April 2009 at 11:43 pm #

Her Majesty touched her first. It’s my understanding that they exchanged contact information and shall be corresponding. I gather Her Majesty respects strong women.

  13. maxadog 01 April 2009 at 11:56 pm #

Betsy – It’s the same with the made up outrage over the ipod gift. All those who are “aghast” fail to mention that it was a video ipod loaded with songs from her favorite show tunes, Oklahoma is her fav according to a british reporter I heard, plus photos and video footage of her 2007 visit to Jamestown and DC, plus her 1957 visit to Jamestown, and also photos and video from the inauguration.

If anyone watched Bill Mahr last Friday, Mos Def had a very funny take on the scrutiny that Obama is under.

It is funny going to left-leaning sites that clearly are Hillary-centric, and see how they are talking about (attacking) Michelle. I guess it’s only disrespectful to women when its a woman you like. Women can be our own worst enemy.

  14. djjl 02 April 2009 at 12:02 am #

    I agree with Taylor.

    You can call it CDS

    or

You could take a look at all the photos from those folk who run the world……

and see how many women you see pictured.

It’s kind of like a football huddle and high fives all round…..

    to the guys.

Before any of you fellas start smacking me on anything……….

    Remember……..

You haven’t walked in the shoes of women anymore than those of you who proclaim that whites don’t know what it’s like to be black.

And NO, ogenec, black women do not have the keys to all experience worth noting.

Djjl – the ones that Iceblink told you to “take it up with”. Talkleft has now moved on to what a disgrace Michelle is because she wears cartigan sweaters. It really is disgusting to read.

  17. icemama 02 April 2009 at 12:26 am #

Do they really have to throw in Shuster? I’ld rather suck on a lime than watch that guy.

Djjl: the confluence, alegres corner, hillbuzz, cinie’s world, savagepolitics, rezkowatch-there are soooo many I can’t even begin. and of course, no quarter is still going strong – went there the other day for the first time in months and could not believe the same old obama-haters. the vile and hatred they throw at Obama and his family is so bad it just has to be phony. seriously, no one could hate like these people – nothing I ever saw during bush’s term(s) against him from the liberals comes even close to the garbage slung at Obama. whew – a real cesspool. stay away!

I just went to a family funeral yesterday for a much beloved Aunt.
OH MA GAWD how on EARTH can I have wriggled out of THAT racist, President Obama hating, rightwingnut gene pool?!!
I was STUNNED at the level of crazyness the rightwingers actually BELIEVE on the street level.
And this wasn’t my Fathers Texas/war of northern aggression bunch. This was my MOTHERS east coast supposedly Democratic blue collar side of the family.
I knew my family of origin was kind of socially conservative. And I know it’s been YEARS since I spent any time around any of them. But this was trully, trully mind boggling. And very. very sad.
One of them actually in hushed voice told how he had “heard” President Obama say in a “SECRET” speech that was “secretly” taped how they (the Feds) were going to put a monitor on every house and if you used to much energy you would be cut off. I said “I already have one of those, it’s called the electric meter.” I was met with stoney silence.
Then abortion came up. I said “any man whose opposed to a womans reproductive rights should just keep his zipper up” SILENCE!!!
I might have disagreed with folks here in the past but OH MA GAWD and JEEEEEBUS CRISOIES it is good to communicate with generally sane folks again.

If you can stomach it try “Hillaryis44″

(from the blog owner, whoever that is)

MEchelle “On the morning of this last day of March’s madness we found lantern-jawed, scowling, (Mary Todd) Michelle Obama furiously yanking sleeves off dresses while frantically poring over old traveling Jackie-O photographs. ”

and that’s MILD stuff compared to the daily insult machine.

Larry Johnson had about a week where it seemed like he might come out of his Gollum Hut but he slipped back down into the muck and he’s on the blog bandwagon that says “more hits per Obama bash.” The fact he the First Lady is considered fair game and talked about in such demeaning terms says to me that these people like Larry Johnson and whoever the coward is that runs Hillryis44 (known only as “Admin”) don’t have a real feminist bone in their bodies, they’re opportunists and maybe worse.

I can’t figure out why any of you go read stuff written by people for whom you have no respect and read comments from twits who are clearly also dimwits……
…………………unless you enjoy the adrenalin hit from the anger you feel.

I’d rather spend my time and effort being informed and challenged to think about my position. I’ve never been into mud wrestling and certainly am not going to waste my time “watching” it.

You’re going to get splashed sooner or later. I’d rather get out than come away dirty.

well djjl its like this. You have your thing, CDS. I have my thing ODS both are real and need push back. So I watch out for my concerns and you watch out for yours, it’s simple. When I am aware of A Democratic/pro Hillary site that is full of hate I shine a light on it. Ignoring it is too easy.

I have to “get out more” now…

  29. djjl 02 April 2009 at 9:50 am #

    GeoT

I think being a patron of those sites causes you to have a negative bent where none is warranted.

I don’t go looking for CDS – I find I don’t need too. It is not something I need to search out – it just pops up from time to time in places in MSM – don’t to visit blogs for it. Same goes for ODS. You don’t need to go hunting for it (like looking for bugs under a rock – you know they are going to be there).

You might want to read your post again – from my read it comes across a bit snitty. Maybe that was your intent – I don’t know. I do know that it added nothing to the discourse here -IMO.

No, I don’t have my “thing” about CDS. But, you can have yours.

Any and all of the lamebrained complaining about an ipod and cardigan are not worth the time. I don’t intend to give them any power.

The Obama’s were spectacular on their first trip abroad in the 44th Presidency. We were represented beautifully.

I just saw this. I never said or implied anything to that effect. But no matter — the whole race vs gender thing is so last year to me. This year, I’m confining myself to substantive issues. Remember when I said I wouldn’t talk about race, in any way, on this blog? My position still holds.
