On national security, the poll found that 50 percent of likely voters prefer Republicans, while only 33 percent prefer Democrats. It’s the return of a “security gap” that all but vanished in 2008 because of Obama’s popularity and Bush’s mishandling of Iraq, Bennett said. – Politico
Here we go again. Democrats are once again losing the narrative to Republicans on national security. But it’s only one flaming danger signal. The right track – wrong track in the Democratic Corps poll is frightening.
However, no one is mentioning that number. The most alarming reality for Pres. Obama is his low numbers on the economy.
This is truly infuriating. While Obama’s numbers remain high, his handling of terror suspects interrogation and prosecution is low, which conservatives are highlighting, one reason Liz Cheney decided it was worth jumping the shark on this subject though it backfired badly on her.
Democrats on the whole have won great strides in national security over neocon Republicans in the last years. After 9/11 and Iraq, Dems are now are falling back again, which considering the successes of the Obama administration in Pakistan and against al Qaeda is maddening. But that’s what a new poll from Democracy Corps – Third Way reveals, a Democratic polling group, with the number of “drop-off voters” stunning, unless someone can enlighten me on what I’m missing.
Another alarming trend that hits Pres. Obama is our respected status, which had been at highs, now trending down again.
Q.30 And would you say the United States is more respected or less respected in the world than it was two years ago? Total More respected is 42%; Total Less respected: 50%.
Chris Bowers at Open Left stresses Obama’s approval rating using “unlikely registered voters” as the strongest point in the President’s arsenal, his headline rather peculiarly trumpeting: Unlikely voters so disappointed in Obama, they overwhelmingly approve of his job performance. Right, because it’s so important how unlikely voters feel.
Greg Sargent trumpets Obama is better than Bush.
While Spencer Ackerman’s post title says it all: Obama Gets High Marks on National Security but Democrats Don’t.
It’s more foreshadowing of what may manifest in November, especially since Scott Brown’s election, which predicted this poll on national security revealing Democrats once again slipping to the GOP.
It’s the economic numbers, however, that should ring alarm bells for Pres. Obama.

Jobs. Homes. Jobs. Homes.
Nothing else matters right now, save another terrorist attack.
The ‘average’ American knows little or nothing about foreign policy. All they know is that “some scary people are out to get us.” Idiots. Therefore how the ‘average’ American views whice Party is doing a better job on foreign policy is of no consequence in the real world. It’s all about manipulation. Unless, and until, Obama improves the economy by putting large numbers of people back to work the ‘average’ American will be one pissed off collective human. And that’s how it should be. Peace
Digby on The Village Dems:
I continue to be somewhat surprised at the attitude I find among the cognoscenti about what is expected from the activist wing of the party. From what I gather, the base is assumed to be trained seals who will clap and do tricks on command but placidly accept the blame when things go wrong. And it upsets the serious people greatly when it fails to do that. In other words, the base is the party’s doormat.
File this one under “you’ll never win in a negotiation when you aren’t willing to walk away from the deal”.
“It’s the economic numbers, however, that should ring alarm bells for Pres. Obama.” -Taylor Marsh
Obama will not be reelected if he can’t show some improvement with the economy. The hard truth no American wants to admit is the fact the economy will not recover for a long time. Eight years of George Bush has destroyed America. And another eight years of Obama will not fix it. He is trying, I’ll give obama that much. However, if America is going to hit rock bottom let them do it with a Republican in office. Sure, they will try and blame Obama once he is out of office…But their is not much you can put on a man who served only one term…
I cannot wait to see how future Sarah “Savior” Palin will fix this mess…she is becoming the new Messiah for 2012. You would think people learned their lesson after Obama “Faux Change” campaign. But, no they are ready to elect another so called savior. Given the choices we had between John “Grandfather time” McCain vs. Barack ” Faux Change” Obama in 2008…I still think we got an alright deal…can you just imagine what kind of poll numbers President McCain would be getting right now …lol
What are “drop off voters”?
It is the same old story. Where is the narrative? Where is the stand up Democrat making the case that our foreign policies make us safer? Where is the argument that by trying terrorists on our civil courts we show belief in our system of justice and no fear of transparency. Where is the push back on making so called terriosts larger than life and giving them warrior status? Who stands for age old American principles?
Quaking in the shadows afraid of a fight with the neocons afraid the independents might take offense. WJC knew what he was talking about when he said people will go for strong and wrong over weak and right.
“Unlikely voters.”
Newsmax is having a lot of fun today with WJC, whom they have no trouble touting now. Incredible.

I wish Obama would read the poll and become more emboldened and I hope it puts a big smile on the Big Dawg’s face.I really wish the Obama team woud use Bill Clinton’s advice more and let him go out and explain some things.
WJC’s political time has past, LLady.
This one is up to Obama. He’s certainly up to the task, now he just has to do it, though on economics he’s lost a lot of time and credibility, as the poll above illustrates.
I’m beginning to wonder if he is up to the task.
Marie205 – your sentiments match mine, with the exception of Ms. Palin. You will have to search far and wide to find a bigger ‘male’ feminist than me – but that doesn’t mean I want to see Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan running the country (btw, did you see Lohan is sueing Etrade because of the milkaholic Lindsey baby in their commercial?). I see no difference between Sarah and this type of media-made woman. She lies consistantly (two completely different stories about her brother’s burnt foot). Yes, the media LOVES here (they also love trainwrecks) so they cur her all kinds of slack (when chided before her teaparty speech about the $100,000 – she said she was going to donate it back. Ahem. Did we follow up on that lie?). She grabs anything she hears and repeats it (why did it take over a week before she compared her palmnotes to a Bible verse? Because it took that long before someone TOLD her about that) – but my favorite is the John Wooden (Legs) quote in her book about ‘defending their land’ patriotism. Her own father exposes her narrow thinking when he says she left college in Hawaii because there were “too many Hawaiians”. She leaves the governorship because there were “too many distractions” (which was the truth – depending on how you take it *L* “distractions” from Makin’ Money, Honey! You Betcha!).
Bottom line. Her fatal flaw is she seems to have absolutely NO “intellectual curiosity”. Her entire act is made of “lipstick” soundbites. I said a long time ago – “Let her talk.” – and with each time she does the above facts come even more into focus.
Just like Hilton and Nicole Ritchie, she’s lots of fun.
… but take her seriously? Gawd forbid.
Okay. Back to work.
That reminds me.
This is how I became a feminist __
