Clinton Impeachment Hack McCollum Loses to Fraudster Scott

Public Policy polling got it right, with Quinnipiac and especially Mason-Dixon, blowing their predictions. Scott’s win a final humiliation for Florida Attorney General McCollum, one of the self-righteous Republicans who wielded weight during impeachment and paid for it when he tried to run for Senate in 2000. Floridians took pity on him making him attorney general, but tonight he goes down hard to a man who’s scandalized health care past may just tip Florida to Alex Sink and the Democrats. Oh, how sweet that would be. Sink will look like Mr. Moderate (and, yes, I know Ms. Sink is a woman, but I also call Meryl Streep an actor) compared to Fraudster Scott’s wacky wingnuttery, complete with Arizona anti immigrant xenophobia.

From Politico:

Scott struggled to dispatch questions about his tenure at Columbia/HCA, where he presided over a $1.7 billion federal fraud settlement, as well as increased scrutiny of Solantic, a Florida-based chain of clinics he helped found. Asked recently if he could support Scott in a general election, McCollum answered: “I don’t know.”

It remains to be seen to what extent Florida Republicans will be able to close ranks after the brutal contest

As for the Senate race, Meek wins easily, with PPP analysis reporting Rubio ahead of Crist at the start of this three-way race:

PPP finds (Marco Rubio) would begin the general election in the lead at 40%, followed by Charlie Crist at 32%, and Meek at 17%. …

It all depends if more Democrats quietly back Crist, because Meek, who sent a “We did it!” email to supporters, has a very tough climb to come close to beating Rubio, because now that the primary is over the excitement on the far right will only build after Scott’s surprise win over McCollum.

good grief. sink has been hitting the hell out of scott as u can imagine. i think fl and tx are very possible dem pickups. we got perry on the run here- ran paper ads all over tx calling perry a coward for not debating meeting news ed board. the msm here is now all over perry’s case for denying the voters a debate to view and meet their ed boards. it s bad. if dems win fl and tx it would just be huge.

i think the clinton impeachment leaders are now all toast right? sweet justice.

      • Taylor Marsh 25 August 2010 at 1:05 am #

heh-heh… yeah, McCollum was a real prick back then, so I just couldn’t resist. Remember when he lost in 2000, too. Good riddance.

Well, FL will sure as hell be possible with Scott. Sink can cream him with negative ads that run themselves. He’s also way to wingnut for Independents.

i saw meek’s, rubio’s an dcrist’s speeches. rubio scares the hell out of me- charming with policies super bad. crist has to stake another issue to push dems to him and mods etc.. fl has loads of indies. unless isee meek really gain big traction very shortly im going crist. got to beat rubio!

Taylor, just a heads up. Alex Sink is a WOMAN. (I’m only mentioning this in connection with your “Mr Moderate” comment.)

    • Taylor Marsh 25 August 2010 at 9:52 am #

      yeah, I know she is.

      • JozefAL 25 August 2010 at 9:03 pm #

Taylor, you should have noted that when you FIRST posted the piece. Your little added comment regarding Meryl Streep is more than just a bit snide, it comes off as really defensive. Meryl is an actor because her profession is ACTING, and “actor” is a historically well-regarded term for anyone, regardless of gender, in that field (much like the term “singer” applies to anyone, male or female, who sings).

My only point when I made my comment was that others could have been confused, especially since the vast majority of people don’t refer to a woman as “Mr” anything (unless it’s being done to suggest the woman is a lesbian). But thank you for being so damn smug and condescending when you made the correction in your post.

Meek’s win is good news for Rubio, bad for Crist. Expect further decline in his poll numbers.

wow- this is stunning. murkowski may well lose her seat for teanut miller. 50pct in he is up over 2000 votes. huge.

I would love to see a Senator Kendrick Meek from Florida – wouldn’t that be something! Maybe WJC will stump for him again. I know it’s an uphill climb. Sure to be an interesting race.

  6. fairmindedindependant 25 August 2010 at 8:37 am #

This is going to be interesting race in Florida. Crist, Rubio, and Meek. I am telling you now, I hope the democrats especially presdent Obama does not throw him under the bus. Meek seems like a good guy and would not deserve that kind of treatment. I don’t think Meek will go for it !! He seems like a fighter. I am a independent, so I am thrilled theres one in the race but I agree with Meek on social issues.

Miller is still ahead in Alaska with 84% of the vote counted. Wow, this is going to get interesting. If Miller wins, this is the big shocker. The polls were wrong on this one big time !! They had Murkowski way ahead !! I guess it was the Sarah Palin factor !! She supported Miller !!

    • lynnette 25 August 2010 at 9:46 am #

I hope the Dems at least give Meek a chance first – they should go for it. When election time gets close, if it looks like he can’t win, quietly support Christ.

      Interesting in Alaska, isn’t it?

      • texan4hillary 25 August 2010 at 10:46 am #

scary as hell in ak. miller is a nut. i mean scarier than rand paul. i will post his positions ie- prohibition of all abortion no exceptions. i m praying murkoswki makes it. she and i dont agree on a whole lot but i do respect her and th e legislation she has done with boxer on choice has been pretty good. we have so few women in the senate- and murkowski is in the gop leadership on the hill. bet mcconnell is infuriated. it s agop state. if miller wins likely miller this nov. and another senator who backs choice (usually) will be gone.

    Hi Everyone,
Well, I am from the blue part of the state of Florida the Southeast, and I voted yesterday. My observation is that no one really knows Meek outside the Miami metro area. He would have to make huge gains. I hate to say it, but I am not sure that his win is good news for Democrats. I’m afraid that we will end up with that crazy Rubio winning this one.
If, Crist doesn’t pull it out. With regards, to the Sink/Scott race, Sink is not a very interesting candidate and Scott even with all his problems, has tons of money to spend.
