White House Challenges Alabama Immigration Law

From Huffington Post:

The federal government asked an appeals court Friday to halt the Alabama immigration law considered by many the toughest in the U.S., saying it could have dire diplomatic consequences abroad, invites discrimination and merely forces illegal immigrants into neighboring states.

The motion, filed in the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, claimed Alabama’s new law is “highly likely to expose persons lawfully in the United States, including school children, to new difficulties in routine dealings.”

It now appears that even legal immigrants are leaving the state. Many of their relatives are illegal and the legal ones, who pay taxes and own homes, are leaving with them. It’s as if Alabama was frozen in Amber, it’s frightening to know that people like this walk among us. These people are so ignorant, it’s their own republican politicians that are causing their misery, not hard working latino immigrants. Look at the job losses in the southern states, most of it happened while republicans were in power. Good luck to those farmers and other low wage employers looking for Americans to fill those jobs. Maybe they can borrow that sign that hangs at the front gate of Aushwitz, ” Work will set you free “.

No you don’t sound bitter Secular,

just typical I have to agree on one point, Alabama made this bed, and it can now lie in it. I read some of the comments on a McClatchy newspaper in Alabama, and it was gruesome stuff. People knew about the hit that Agriculture would take, they knew about the possibility of crops rotting in the field and either did not believe it because of the source, or they just did not care.

So in a very weird and very self-destructive way the anti-immigrant set is getting exactly what they wanted. The brown people are high tailing it out of Alabama, and leaving a wake of economic chaos behind them. It will be a whiter Alabama for sure, but much, much poorer and the worse for wear.
