On the Dash of Dan Facebook page, I posted a poll, asking how people like their brownies.
I find people fall into three categories, chewy, fudgy, or cakey.
What I like about this recipe, it’s mostly things you have already on hand in the kitchen and it takes a regular brownie and makes it a truly something special.
This is definitely a more cake-like brownie, although after a day the flavor deepens and it becomes more chocolatey and dense.

Recipe:
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 cup sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa 1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup whole milk
6 Tbsp. vegetable oil
Topping:
4 oz. softened cream cheese
1 egg, beaten
6 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Mix the topping together in a small bowl, and set aside
* Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Line a buttered 8-inch square baking pan with parchment (allowing an overhang)
- In a large bowl mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa, sugar, and salt.
- In another bowl mix together milk, vanilla and oil. Pour onto the flour mixture and stir well until blended. Pour the brownie mixture into the prepared pan, smoothing out the edges.
- Take reserved topping and pour on top. With a knife “cut” the topping through the brownie. (This will get some of that topping inside those brownies!)
- Bake 20-25 minutes until a toothpick tested in the center of the brownies comes out clean. Let cool in the pan completely and remove by lifting with the parchment (there’s a use for that overhang!) Cut into 16 squares.
These brownies would be a welcome addition to any Superbowl Party.
I’ve also realized I have to come up with a dessert for the big game! (Of course I’ll be sharing that with you!)
And yes, the reason I’m watching the Superbowl; Madonna. Oh and the game. Yeah, the game.
Do you have a favorite get together dish for a game days? Do you have a dog in the football fight?
Let me know anything, in the thread below!

I always have brownie ingredients around! Love to freeze them when I make them.
In our house the Super Bowl is a New Year celebration. We stop everything to watch.
GO GIANTS!
I always go to someone who throws a shindig.
And I have to be a Giants fan, my best friend Angela wouldn’t have it any other way!
I’ll figure out something good for next week, and after. Experimentation time!

A combination of all three would make for the perfect brownie. It appears your Black Bottom Brownies recipe does just that.
God they look good!

Seconded!
Thank you!
I agree, a brownie should have a combination of the sorts.
If you get the chance, make these, you won’t regret it!
Hi Dan. Thanks for another fun recipe.
And have fun watching Madonna
You’re welcome!
I am a big Madonna fan. Ever since I was a little kid, and I’ve had the opportunity to see her twice.
As an aside, when I was sick, I was was able to “Make a Wish” with the foundation of the name, and of course I chose meet Madonna. And when it did happen, she was so sweet, funny, and personable. As were her people. So I’ll always remember that.
Im fwding this recipe on to family members! you met madonna? that is neat- hope there is a pic of this
