This book can be confusing at first until you realize that a lot of it is Kate Winter talking to herself! She is totally into mysticism, astrology, etc., which she learned originally from her mother, who was murdered while Kate watched. She has since gone to college, taken psychology, and is now an FBI profiler. She and one of her "friends" have started their own company, which figures out via astrology when killers will strike again.

But there is someone from her past who will be getting out of a psych ward soon—and Kate senses it and attempts to get ready for it. When he finds her, everything starts getting messy—bombs go off, and people die.

I'd been looking for a page-turning thriller for a while when I learned of Taylor Marsh's new novel in the Dr. Kate Winter Profiler series. Dr. Winter is a psychological profiler whose methods include not only standard scientific techniques but also special gifts and skills that help her cross over the veil, among them meditation, clairvoyance, tarot, and astrology, to profile and apprehend criminal psychopaths. Dr. Winter is a fascinating and complex character in the Thriller genre. It. Evident from the very beginning, Taylor Marsh incorporated a vast body of knowledge and research into the writing of this book. It’s a unique and creative addition to the "Thriller" genre, and I highly recommend it.

It grabbed me like Silence of the Lambs did, and I couldn’t stop reading until I’d finished it. Now, I’m going to go back and read the earlier books in this series. Great job, Taylor Marsh!

Taylor Marsh’s latest thriller was most unique. Dr. Kate Winter, the main character, is a profiler, but not just your ordinary everyday profiler. She goes beyond the psychological and delves into the clairvoyant, meditative, tarot, and astrological aspects of her suspects. Kate witnesses psycho Bruce Pitzer kill her mother with his psycho son Holt as an accomplice. After years of being in a psycho ward, Holt is released and goes looking for Kate. This book was a little slow for me in the beginning, but then the thrills strongly intensified. An absolutely gripping thriller. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST‑read!
